2016 Draft Lottery

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Wed Apr 27, 2016 7:19 pm

Yippee, we are a playoff team and we are not watching the lottery as we had the last several years!

But it does affect us. Who do you want to get the top 3? And who do you NOT want to get the top 3?

Hoping for top 3:
Philly- they suck so bad, another good young player isn't going to do much
LA- same reasoning, plus they are Western team
Phoenix- same reasoning, plus they are Western team

Hoping for these teams to be non-winners:
Boston- they are good, have a great coach, and a year ahead of us on rebuilding. And I hate them.
Chicago- don't need them to get any better
Milwaukee- same as Chicago

I hope Phoenix gets stuck drafting Kris Dunn so that maybe they will be more willing to deal Brandon Knight to us.

I'm actually hoping the Suns get the #1 pick.

Unlike the Lakers & Sixers they didn't go full tank.

I'm hoping the Twolves get a top 2 pick (either Simmons or Ingram). I feel for their fans for how bad they've been for so long and would be interested to see one of the top two guys added to KAT / Wiggins.

I hope the Lakers keep their pick as I'd rather an East team in Philly doesn't get an extra top pick.

As much as I want the East to "get better" I really don't, I just want Cleveland to lose.

Just not Philly and not Chicago (as that would have been ours sorta deal if we finished 9th in the division)
Weaver = Hinkie

Oh, I'd love that so much, either way would be awesome. KAT/Simmons/Wiggins/Lavine would be a hell of a core. A couple years with Thibs and who knows, that team could be right at the top of the West.

Fairly random lottery thoughts —

• I wouldn't mind seeing NOLA land a top two pick. Beyond appreciating and rooting for that city and community in general, I think landing another bonafide young stud might push the Pelicans into finally building correctly (i.e. no veteran shortcuts, build for the long term) around Davis.

• I wanna see the Lakers keep their pick and I wanna see SOMEBODY crash the top three so that the Sixers are left with just the #4. I really feel for Philly fans and will then immediately start rooting for them to start building, but the whole Hinkie strategy left such a horrible taste in my mouth that I'd like to see his "master plan" ultimately explode.

• Along those lines, I know it would actually be horrible from a competitive standpoint for the Pistons, but I have such respect for Brad Stevens and what's he's done with that team that I won't be angry if the Celts land a top three pick. Plus, I'd then like to see how Stevens integrates a superstar on to a really good team that seems to be lacking only that.

• I do not, do not, DO NOT want to see Washington get god-shot lucky and land a top three pick; the Basketball Gods need to punish them for paying that price for Markieff Morris. Ditto with Chicago and Milwaukee, but that's just 'cuz they're direct competition in our division (as others have already posted). That said, the hoops junkie in me would be intrigued to see what the Bucks would do with a top two pick; adding one of Simmons or Ingram to Middleton, Giannis and Parker simply doesn't make any sense, so SOME massive trade would have to go down (perhaps even with the pick?).
