Weird game, though.

Much sloppier than you'd expect in the playoffs, especially from two pretty disciplined teams.

Lots of momentum shifts the way you'd predict for these two evenly matched teams. Penguins' line depth is ridiculous. Phil Kessel on a third line!!??? You gotta be kidding me.

Unless the second line steps the f*** up, there's no way this team is beating the pens 3 out of the next 6. These dudes are just getting flat dominated right now. Sucks to see this season end against the f'in pens of all teams but it just is what it is. The pens top 6 is better than our top 6 and that's often all you need. I just don't see how they crack this. Pittsburgh will win this series in 6, maybe even 5.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter how good you do for an entire season of Hockey because the sport is extremely volatile. All it takes it to get hot at the right time and nothing else matters. Pens have 3 players that can be legitimate #1 franchise players on other teams in this league, and a slew of other talented players. They have more talent than the Caps and they're coming in hotter. It's a recipe for disaster. It doesn't matter who Pittsburgh puts in the net if you spend 75% of the time in your own zone and defending non-stop odd-man rushes. This series isn't going past six games. Would be flat out shocked if Caps win. They're the underdogs in this scenario.

Caps fans deserve a cup, it's too bad they have Leonsis as an owner.

Sort of karmic to see his team coming up short after the role he's played in labor negotiations.

Players in the NHL didn't have quite as much leverage as the NBA counterparts, but it's nice to see Leonsis come up short despite the rules that were created in his favor.

If this team can't get to the Stanley Cup, then I don't think the Caps ever will. Really I'd rather just have a 2nd or 3rd seed instead of the accolades of a President's trophy. This is the exact reason why most Caps fans were cautiously optimistic.

While I don't think having a great regular season means much, the Caps could theoretically make a deep playoff run as a 4 or 5 seed in the future. Anyways, this series isn't over yet. If the Capitals want to be a championship team, they are going to have to overcome adversity.

i cannot believe how much people are willing to pay for live sports...I got some value tickets for the wiz last year and sure, loved the experience, but 300 bucks for a single average caps ticket seems nuts
