2016 Playoffs

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Sun May 1, 2016 3:14 am

Wow, the Spurs dismantled the Thunder tonight. I expect the Thunder to bounce back a bit in game two, though I don't think they will necessarily win, I expect them to keep it close. The Spurs shot over 60% overall and 60% from 3.

Interested to see two game 7s tomorrow. Should be interesting. Would love to see Charlotte and Indiana win, though road teams rarely win game 7, unless it is the Rockets for a third straight victory over the Suns in 95.

I would love to see Charlotte win but I think they'll just get smashed by the Cavs. Would prefer to see Heat/Cavs in the semis. I hope Indy wins though.
Would be such a fairy tale to see the Blazers beat the Warriors and then the Spurs, but that definitely won't happen. Still though, I can't believe the Blazers have gotten this fair even with the injuries to Clips.

Yes, I mean if you go back to our season predictions thread, most predicted them to be one of the worst in the west after losing 4 starters. This is why I think Stotts should have won coach of the year, just like I thought Hornacek should have in 2014. Overachieving by like 20-30 wins is by far more impressive to me, than taking a team that has been a contender and still doing well (Pop in 2014) or a team that won the championship to the best record ever. While the latter is impressive, and I'm guessing because that happened, people felt compelled to vote for him, I was much more impressed with Stotts this year. Heck, the Warriors probably had a better record while Walton was coaching them and I feel they are almost on autopilot. Now much of this is because of Kerr, but regardless, I would have voted for Stotts.

It's great to see Portland get through to the second round, even though they'll probably get slaughtered in the semi's. A team that was suppose to suck and be in Year One of their rebuild to beating a tough (but devastated by injury) Clippers team is a great story. I'd love to see Portland take one game from the GS.

The end of that Toronto, Indy game...last two minutes or so must have been tough to watch for both sides. Toronto almost lets them back in to blow it, which would have been horror for their fans, but Indy almost comes back to steal it, but a bad turnover, non foul call, and not fouling early after the last miss hurt them. Good series. It will be interesting to see how Toronto does against Miami. With the first series win in 15 years, maybe they will be less nervous at the end. But it might be tough going up against a team full of guys with plenty of playoff experience.

Indy shot so much better in that game...likely getting out rebounded cost them.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Hawks palying the Cavstight, trailing by five after 16-3 run to close out the third. They are my Eastern conferencedarkhorse , it was a miracle the Raps even made it out of the first round

LMA is beasting following up his 38 point performance with 21 already in the fist half. Also Steven Adams is another great young center from the 2013 class we whiffed on

I can't believe LMA is shooting this well...he must be over 70% for the series. But a close game...and when I was reading everyone talking about the Spurs taking them out with ease, and even regardless of that, I figured OKC was going to keep it pretty close this game, even if they couldn't win. Was thinking of betting on them, but then got consumed with stuff at work and forgot to check the spread and stuff.

Do you know what the line was on the game?

The spread was +/-7.5

Yeah, I probably would have bet that, but just a small amount for fun.

Ibaka with the most idiotic foul on a LMA thee point attempt in crunchtime. This is why OKC will always be pretenders who find new ways of choking

OKC gets bailed out on an uncalled offensive foul on Waiter shoving the Flopper out of the in bounds.

hahhaa somehow Ibaka saved that last possession which was played terribly by the Spurs. Why pass out for a three when you were only down 1??

So happy OKC won. I expect the Spurs to take one at least in OKC, but it would be awesome imo if OKC knocked them out, which I find highly improbable, but I will certainly be pulling for them. They need to find some way to guard Aldridge. I have been unable to watch, but why can't Ibaka at least do something about Aldridge?

Aldridge just looks too quick for Ibaka. When you play him straight up, he's got the moves and strength to get around you. If you give him space and cut off the drive, he'll just shoot over you or get closer for an even better post up look. It's also hard when the help is staying close to the 3PT shooters around LMA

Ibaka is only an elite weakside rim protector, LMA took him to school isolating one on one and made some ridicilous off balance turn around midrange jumpers

Officials need to be fined for such egregious incompetence, swallowing the whistle with 30 seconds left in regulation. Don’t give me the “let the players decide their fate” excuse. I know as a Suns fan this should be schadenfreude but it’s a travesty.

So I'm guessing you are saying this favored the Thunder?
