Vogel is an interesting development to say the least.

Vlade waiting may end up being the best thing he's done. The coaching oasis outside of Sac is drying up so the disease infested, chemically tainted waters of Sacramento are probably looking a little tastier right now! haha.

We are like the salt water when stranded on a raft lost at sea... You know you're thirsty a little sip won't hurt.

This be honest, I think it's more likely that Indy would become competition than Vogel might end up here. He can be selective. Not sure how I feel about that

Well there is Blatt, McHale, McMillan, Messina, Turner, Ewing, and potential Vogel with only 4 coaching jobs open. Kings WILL land one.

Things are certainly looking up from the first crop of names. But that will only make the sting worse when Jackson or Mitchell are named HC.

J/K. I hope.

Turner and Ewing? :)

I agree though, it's becoming a buyers market.

If either are named as coach, it's because that's who Cousins wants.

Anyway.

Whoever is hired, they'll fail if the organization isn't 100% behind them. Allow the coach to coach. Cousins isn't the coach. If they want Cousins suspended for a couple of games, then Cousins needs to be suspended. Karl failed because he had zero support and was undermined at every turn. Phil Jackson, Coach K or Calipari all would've failed if they got the same treatment that Karl got. If we're going to be so thorough in the search, then you should also empower the coach to actually, you know, coach.

Good to see Big Nasty get a chance. I hope they keep him on the staff as an assistant if he doesn't get the gig.

He should have had the shot at the deadline but oh well.

Yeah, Sam Amick mentioned him in his article 4 days ago:

They plan to speak with at least four more candidates as well: Nate McMillan (former Seattle SuperSonics and Portland Trailblazers coach); now an associate head coach with the Indiana Pacers), Mark Jackson (former Golden State Warriors coach), Ettore Messina (renowned European coach, former Los Angeles Lakers assistant who is currently an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs), and Elston Turner (longtime assistant coach who spent four seasons with Kings president of basketball operations Vlade Divac in Sacramento and is currently on Dave Joerger’s staff in Memphis).

Is Messina interested? Clarity is tough to come by, but it’s safe to say the Lakers’ position is a much more intriguing opportunity. He is known to be on their short list. Folks close to Messina are skeptical that he has interest in the Kings’ position

Today, Jason tweeted out that the Kings will interview Messina:

Messina, Blatt, Ewing, McHale, McMillan has to be one of the best coaching availability list that the Kings have or will interview in a long, long time.

It's nice a change from the Westphal's, Smart's, Corbin's, Karl's (at the twilight of his career), etc of the world.

Interesting so many people are willing to talk about the position. May not be a couple of guys like Thibs for example. But the assumption no one wanted this job seems incorrect.

A much wider search than the one used to replace Tyrone Corbin.

Yeah, total head scratcher move with the Henry Bibby inclusion for an interview.

It makes me nervous that some of the higher rung guys like Messina/McHale have only talked with Vlade and not came out for an official interview, if I'm reading correctly

Henry Bibby might be excessive, but I don't see the harm in it. Thinking outside of the box is what smaller market teams have to do, and might even just be a favor to Mike Bibby. Who knows. Anyway, with the candidates mentioned, I'm not concerned.
