Kinda depressing. But seeing how Cuban handles a team, Dwight may be the biggest fish he's ever caught. Next to Monta and Parsons.

I think Cuban brings everybody back + Dwight and calls in an offseason. The real spring cleaning comes when number 41 hangs in the AAC rafters.

The thought of this same lineup with Dwight Howard at Center is just sickening. We don't jump any of the top 4 west teams, and we'll live to regret pretty much every contract other than Dirk's.

My guess is that Cuban used DJ's verbal commitment to lure those two to commit for less money and when DJ fell through, Cuban felt obligated to do something to make up for it.

I understand that, entirely. But it didn't look at the bigger picture of this summer.

I wonder why don't we make Whiteside a priority. Miami only have 41M cap room with Whiteside, Wade and Deng expiring. That's mean they will at least lose one of them with the inflation of cap room. From what I learnt, they offer 20M for Whiteside. This is easily beatable offer. And he's unrestricted.
Let's be real, they won't be able to move liability and dead money Chris Bosh. Nor can they get expiring for Dragic. It's over for them rather easily.
I'll offer Whiteside 30M per, max deal easily. Then, we can either bring back Parsons and Williams or run at Kyle Irving or Mike Conley. Can Miami really afford Wade or Deng at 11M per? I seriously doubt it. I don't think they can get either back with that price.

Re: Mavs 2016 Cap Sheet & Offseason Discussion
I would like to see Mavericks pursue SF like Matt barnes or P.J. tucker. We can make a trade or sign them and they'll be half the price of Parson. This gives Anderson another year to develop before making him the starter. Ideally, Anderson won't start, but he'll play starter minutes. This move will relief of the of pressure off Anderson. Just in case he might go through a sophomores slump, Barnes or Tucker are serviceable. Also, those guys understand their role, and wouldn't cause conflict if Anderson gets more minutes than them.
These guys won't be expensive compare to Parson. In addition, this will give Mavericks cap flexibility to go after Centers like Whiteside ( don't know how to spell his name and too lazy to look it up) and Noah. Whiteside, who recently injured his knee, stocks may have dropped a little. Nevertheless, he's on Maverick's top FA list. J. Noah is someone I would like the Mavericks to take a close look at because he's coming off an injury. However, I do hope we sign him. he is serviceable and is cheaper than Whiteside.I think he will fit perfectly with Dirk.
We must go after Colony as the starting point guard. Memphis just fired their head coach. hopefully, the firing of their head coach could affect Colony's decision to return.
Signing/trading players like Barnes or Tucker at SF and Noah At C will give us money to sign Colony for our starting PG. Also, this may give us some money improve our bench. Maybe a player Like Ryan Anderson? that can shred Dirk's minutes at the PF.
PG: Colony and Berea
SG: Matthew and Harris
SF: Tucker/Barnes and Anderson
PF: Dirk and Anderson
C: Noah and MEjiri/Mcgee
What do you guys think?

Matt Barnes and Mark Cuban hate each other. I don't think you can do it. Think about Tyshuan Prince instead. He's serious success under Rick Carlisie in Detriot. And he can be had for veteran minimum. He's a reclaimation project that can guard multiple positions, though.

Tayshaun Prince? Christ, you really are clutching now. He will be 36 next year and hasn't been an even approaching league average player since about 2010. He can no longer play defense, or hit the three. At this point in his career if you want someone to guard multiple positions we may as well put a chair out on the court.
Put the pipe down and move away from the computer.

I don't think Prince would hurt for the vet min as a guy off the bench, but no way should he be someone we rely heavily on. I still think Anderson should be the starting SF, and I wouldn't mind Prince as one of his backups.

Prince? I like the fact that he'll be able to guard multiple positions because i hate to see Matthew guarding the SF. Rick is asking too much from Matthew, who just came back from a serious injury. My questions is, will Prince be able to knock down open 3s?
I think Anderson needs another year to develop his jump shot to be consistent. If Anderson develop his jump shop over the summer, Start Him!!
I prefer to Anderson on the 2nd squad, where he can be the beneficiaries of Bearea breaking down the defense and giving Anderson open looks.
At least if we don't sign a SF, he have Anderson, thats not going to be an issue. Looking forward to see which PG or C wants to come to Dallas..

You know, it's a sad time when Prince gets mentioned on this board as a possible free agent at this point during his career. He's been mentioned on this board for many years, 10+ to be exact, and now we may have a shot at him during the final years of his career. YAY!

Hasn't Dwight publicly stated that he doesn't want to play in a PNR offense? I think it would be a disaster to try and force him. I foresee another Rondo situation. I couldn't agree more with you about Howard

Non taxpayer MLE
Hi, I need help from somebody with cap rules knowledge.
The non taxpayer MLE (5.6 mil $) is for teams above the salary cap but under the apron. So if a team starts under the cap in free agency Jul 1, signs free agents until they have no more cap room, and then they resign a play er with earl Bird rights or Bird rights and go over the cap with his new salary. Does the team now qualify for the non taxpayer MLE or do they still only get the room MLE (2,8 mil $) ?

Exceptions have a cap hold that is added to the team's salary. So a team can't act like is under the cap, sign players with cap space and then use the exceptions.
These exceptions are automatically extinguished if a team drops so far below the cap that their salary and capholds do not exceed the cap.
Meaning, the team will only have the room-mid level exception ($2.9 million).

Re: Mavs 2016 Cap Sheet & Offseason Discussion
How about going risk/reward route:
I am not a cap guy so this may not work:
Lawson ( I dont think he just lost his skillset overnight and was killed by harden)
Matthews
Parsons
Ryan Anderson (Anderson and Parsons take most of the money)
Biyombo
Bench
Dirk
Barea
Merji
Justin Anderson
(If Lance Stephenson fits I would try him as well since CHA, LA were not good fits and the Grizz seemed to be) or Tim Frazier
Not a huge upgrade but could save us cash in the long run as the cap keeps going up. Could see 50 wins with this

I wouldn't be shocked to see Lance Stephenson come in. I hope that he doesn't but he could be seen as a reclaimation project.
Don't want Lawson anywhere near the team, he's a drunk bum.

Stephenson, Whiteside (or Howard), Parsons, D-Will,and Biyombo would be an excellent offseason haul.. That's who I would make my primary targets if I were in the front office

The tax level for next season is $111m correct?
Hey we can spend a lot next year. Hey load the team with B+/B-/C+ role players and sign a A- star to the max.
We are going to be tanking when Dirk retires anyway.
Whiteside is the main target.
Ryan Anderson is the next on the list.
Pick up Jet Terry.
That is a really good team if we keep Dirk,Zaza,Deron and Parsons.
