How does the 5th pick overall look to you Timber fans? Think Thibs likes him?

If were going to reach for a PF, I'd rather have Ellenson. Rabb would have also been higher on my board had he declared and so is Chriss.

Nah Ellenson is a horrid defender and shoots 28 percent from 3. Would've liked Rabb, but he wants to improve so it's all good to see him next year.
Marquese, Deyonta, and Petr look good to me.

I'd rather have that than a 7 and 5 guy like Davis. I think Ellenson's possible defensive liabilities, like Love and Okafor's, are being blown out of proportion. He's not the most explosive leaper and doest have the quickest feet but he is 6-10, 240 with a 7-2 wingspan and was a terrific rebounder last year at Marquette. People love to forget rebounding is part of defense. He's not going to get backed down easily guarding 4's in the post and he would be terrific spacing the floor at the 4 for KAT, something maybe only Bender would be able to better if at all.

Ellenson looks like a healthy Motiejunas-lite to me. He looks good as the big fish on Marquette but it's difficult to see him having a large impact without a lot of touches. Why not go with Sabonis instead of Ellenson if he's not that good of a defender?

He won't be guarding 4's, because he can't do that at the college level. Okafor moves better than Ellenson.
He spaces the floor nicely with his mid-range, but 28% from 3 would just let defenders defend someone else.
He does rebound nicely, but he got more minutes at 33.5 than Deyonta at 18.6.
Ellenson was the main guy at Marquette while Valentine was the main for Spartans. Ellenson won't be the main guy with the Wolves as he'll likely be the 4th guy and you need more out of that guy than mid-range shots and rebounding. Elite defense and mid-range with increasing minutes to rebound is the guy to draft.

Ellenson is Kris Humphries 2.0, no thank you.

Offensively he'd be interesting but Ellenson's defence looks so bad that it turns him into a net negative.

I think our best option at the draft if bender is not available is a 3 team trade. It would look like:

MIN: 7th and 13th picks
DEN: 5th pick
PHX: 15th pick, Bjelica

Take Jaylen Brown at 7 and Deyonta Davis at 13.

Thoughts?

I think Jaylen Brown is a bad fit cuz he's a really bad shooter for a wing. He drives into the paint and finishes like a maniac but seems like he is a big and buff Wiggins with less talent and skill. I would take Davis/Sabonis at 7 and not sure who will be there at 13. Personally I would like to see wolves draft valentine and team him up with Bazz off the bench.

Na that's what I'd draft jaylen for, as bazz and valentine would be terrible defensively. brown and bazz are more balanced off the bench, with bazz taking the offense and jaylen doing the defence

Oh bring him off the bench? I can see that but I wouldn't expect Davis or Sabonis to be there at 13, so I rather get the starting PF first. I could see stashing Jaylen and selling very high on him eventually when he demands to be a starter somewhere else.

Assuming Buddy and Murray are gone I'd go Luwawu at 7 and Davis/Skal/Sabonis at 13

Rubio/Tyus
Lavine/Luwawu
Wiggins/Bazz
Dieng/Davis
KAT/Dieng

Maybe sign Luol Deng and slide him in at the 4 with Gorgui being the main back up for both the 4 and 5

I highly doubt that we're trading back for multiple picks. I have doubts whether Thibs wants to coach one rookie, no way he's bringing in two late lotto picks that each will want minutes.

I think Ingram, Simmons, Bender, and Murray are the top four in this draft at the moment. After that, no idea. For us, I guess Hield.

I don't know that I want to trade the flexibility of a rookie contract, especially when we have to cap space to sign veteran players. Obviously it depends somewhat on the trade though.

No Simmon, Sabonis, Bender, or Luwawu.

Sabonis is really the only surprise.

I'm impressed that Ingram will be there. I wonder how much he'll do, though...

Is Chad Ford basically the only one who constantly links Ellenson to Minnesota? If not simply because he thinks he's from MN? He's not, for the record. He confused Rice Lake MN with Rice Lake WIS.

I don't want that type of player as a high lottery pick in the draft. I can't imagine him as a "Thibs" type of guy either, unless I'm missing out on the fact that he's actually a great defensive player...which I'm assuming he's not even though I'm essentially profiling him as a cliched big white man who doesn't defend... :usa:
