OT: What I should see in Sacramento?

Post#1 » by JohnWillow » Tue May 3, 2016 2:13 am

Hello everybody, my name is Jānis (weird name right?) I'm from small country in Europe called Latvia, i'm really big Kings fan since 2000s and as a Kings fan in my ''to do list'' is to visit as a tourist Sacramento this summer, I was supposed to visit Sacramento this years March and to go to Kings game, but because of some problems did not travel, so I found a perfect time for me in July, as a big Latvian national team fan, I haven't missed any European championship games and traveled to support my team, for example 5 years ago in Lithuania, 3 years ago in Slovenia and last year in France, this year my national team can qualify for olympics so I will be in Serbia to support Latvian team there from 4th to 10th July and after that I will travel to the USA and Sacramento, so I guess here in this forum a lot of people are from Sacramento, so I have to ask what should I see in Sacramento?

P.S.
Why I'm a Kings fan? Because back in the days we had on our local TV channel every weekend atleast one NBA game and most of the times there was Sacramento Kings game, so I just started to root for them and never look back. If you ask me I don't know any other Sacramento Kings fan from Latvia, cause everyone is rooting for Celtics, Lakers, Cavs, Warriors and Knicks (because of Porzingis haha).
Guys have a great day and feel free to ask questions, will be happy to answer.
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

I'd recommend the California Railroad Museum, Old Sacramento and Crocker Art Museum if you have any interest in history and art. You could also go rafting on the American River, see an old movie at Crest Theatre or check out the California State Fair.

Yea old sac is a great experience, go catch a bite at joes crab shack on the river and enjoy the scenery. Sacramento isn't much of a tourist spot in the sense there are many places to see, I think the coolest thing about living in sac is how close we are to everything. I'd recommend checking out Tahoe and San Francisco while here since they are not to far.

If you like to party then you can check out downtown sacramento clubs, folsom or roseville bars.

If you like the water for sure raft on american river or go check out folsom lake always a fun time during the summer.

Bars and Restaurants are in an area called Mid Town.

Every 2nd Saturday there is Art and Music Streetfair.

Fridays in Ceaser Chavez Park downtown is live bands.

River rafting is a fun just outside Sac thing to do.

Aside from the things in Sac already mentioned you can make a day trip to Tahoe/San Fran/Napa

Or check out my favorite place in the country - the delta region just south of Sac and the historic towns - Locke,Isleton etc
