I always thought players and staff can't work out in the offseason together and in their own arena until a specific date. If that's not the case, I wish more teams would start up early to have a better season.

They are both rehabilitating injures. I assume they are allowed to do that.

I think that's just in lockout years

Looking forward. The two guys we should try to trade this offseason are Tucker and Jenkins. I expect us to be quiet next summer (unless we pull off a huge FA coup or deal for a superstar). I expect big activity in the 2018 summer, since we'll have two picks and Bled and Chandler will be on the last year of their deals. But as for this summer, here's may game plan:

1. Trade Goodwin, Tucker, Jenkins + #28 for Thad Young. Tucker goes to third team for two 2nds to BKN.
2. Draft one of Simmons/Ellenson/Bender (SEB) at #1-6.
3. Draft one of Luwawu/Valentine/Prince (LVP) at #13.
4. Draft one of Felder/Morris/Payton (FMP) at #35.
5. Re-sign Mirza & Price.

I'm assuming Bogdanovic does the rational thing and stays in Europe for a season. I know, I know. But really.

So here's our roster next season, with rotation players bolded.

Bledsoe/Price/FMP
Booker/Knight
Warren/Mirza/LVP
Young/SEB
Len/Chandler

That's what I try to run with next season. Critique if you want, but please don't complain the Mirza's really a 4 - if he's playing next to either Young or Warren, those guys can guard the 3. If we add Bogdanovic, we go big at 35. Otherwise, we'll pick up some FAs (which we'll do anyway, obviously).

I think that team would make the playoffs in the West.

Thad Young is more valuable than that...I don't think the Nets consider trading him for that package.

IDK. They need to rebuild. That's three picks and a young player with upside. I think they consider packages like that, and I'm not sure a better offer comes in. But then again, I'm not privy to Sean Marks's plan.

#28 and two seconds are not a good package of picks by any means and Goodwin is entering his fourth year looking for a big raise if he plays decent basketball.

IMO you have to give them at least #13...he is not a worse player than Markieff and he has some years under contract on a reasonable price.

Perhaps. None of us are willing to pay that price. I could see someone giving them a mid-first for him, but not a lotto pick. Do they prefer that to a pile of picks? I don't know. They could probably convert a mid-first into the two late-first Philly picks. Is that better than our offer? I don't think so. IDK.

For the record, the lone response to this trade idea in the trade thread, from a Nets fan:

"I think the nets would agree to this 3 picks and a prospect for thad, yea thats a go"

Who's the young player with upside? Goodwin or Jenkins?

I don't think that trading for a guy named Young counts as getting younger...
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Come on....

He was talking about Archie Goodwin.

In early May, Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, Mirza Teletovic and Archie Goodwin were workout regulars at the Suns' arena this week.

I figured he was. He certainly does have a lot of room to improve.

Unfortunately, I do not care at all that Bledsoe, Knight, Teletovich, and Goodwin are working out in May. I would rather have better players. The whole team minus Markieff was working out months in advance last year and look at all the good that did. It did nothing. Plus Bledsoe and Knight should be working out now anyway. What else are they supposed to be doing? They barely played the entire second half of the season. It would be much more exciting if the Suns actually had good players that were in the playoffs instead of the mediocre, dime a dozen players they have now.

Seriously, as a fan, am I supposed to be excited about them working out? Is this a joke? I would much rather see a news story that says they were traded off the team.

I wonder what interest if any we have in Horford. Nuts to this too old crap. This squad needs an immediate talent injection. Something has to happen. More than the smokey mirrors we have been seeing. I expect a full throttled approach in free agency/ trades by McMully. His ass is on the line.

If we're gonna make a huge mistake by giving either Horford or Barnes a max deal I'd prefer making the mistake to Barnes. He is 23 and a very underrated athlete with strength. At the combine four years ago he had a 40" vert and 7' wingspan IIRC.

I would have to agree. Watching Horford play in these playoffs I have come away underwhelmed. Not that Barnes is lighting the world on fire but he would command less money and he serves a vital role in today's NBA.
