Has JVG interviewed for the job or is he just on the list of potential candidates? Would love to see him make a return to Houston, although I'd be disappointed seeing as how New Orleans passed on him last offseason in favor of Alvin Gentry.

Lowe on Vogel: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15468298/frank-vogel-just-latest-coach-grow-stale-larry-bird-world

I want him even more now and as Lowe suggests, "The Rockets need to contact him immediately".

Rumor he is the top candidate, but I haven't heard anything about Rockets contacting him.
There is also a rumor, JVG will not get the job because of bad relationship with the owner.
We even heard Morey talk to Kenny, Cassell, Sampson (former Rockets assistant), but no JVG. Kind of hint that may be true.

Kinda weird that they have Kenny Smith above 4 guys who have gotten interviews or are scheduled to interview but I guess he's a name people know and will bet on

Knicks interested in Vogel. He's a Jersey boy so likely goes there.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Would almost be as bad as Stockton or Malone coaching the team. Wouldn't shock me if Morey did it though. He wasn't around during the 97 and 98 playoff series.

No Jeff Hornacek.
No Mark Jackson.
No Derek Fisher.

Dave Joerger just got fired.....I don't know about you all but he climbs atop my wish list.
I want Joerger or Vogel to be the next coach. Anybody else will be disappointing. I'll settle for JVG and maybe Ettore Messina.

Interview Joerger ask him two questions.
Whats you relationship with Mike Conley? & Can you get Mike Conley here?

Would Conley want to play with harden after seeing Lin and Lawson have their careers as starting point guards ruined by him.

Oh good lord. Lin was still good with us, similar numbers to what he's doing in Charlotte, he just gets underrated because of his playoff blunders. He was bad in LA. Ty has been bad without Harden on the court and in Indiana. Don't see how that's his fault. Ty has personal demons and lost his confidence. Mike Conley is way better than Lin, a bit better then Ty but doesn't have the baggage.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--grizzlies-fire-head-coach-dave-joerger-133415083.html
Joerger had been seeking permission to speak to the Kings and Houston Rockets, league sources said.

That a **** move, no loyalty... yea he and Morey will get along just fine.

According to David Aldridge
"Kings' pursuit of Joerger is strong, but he will wait until Rockets can put a potential package together. Pacers could be in mix, too."

Joerger is a very intriguing candidate. I was not expecting him to be available. Could this be the reason why the Rockets have been scheduling so many interviews with fringe candidates? Was Morey waiting for this guy?

With the dysfunction in the Grizzlies organization I'm kind of surprised that they didn't wait to fire him until all of the major coaching positions had been filled.

Apparently the final straw that got him fired was trying to get permission to interview for the Rockets and Sacramento jobs. The front office felt he wasn't committed but Joerger felt like he had no job security and no voice in anything

The point is James wants the ball in his hands on offense. Lin and Lawson did too. They were both incompatible with harden. Will Conley want to be like Beverley on offense? I doubt it

Memphis made a mistake and I would love to have Joerger here. He's probably tops on my list now:

1. Joerger
2. Vogel
3. Van Gundy

Tex, you need to edit the poll my friend. We have good options now.

Return to Houston Rockets
