There's rumors that the candidates are McHale, Nate McMillan, and Shaw.

LOL. Larry wtf are you doing.

Bird moved him on because Vogel didn't put PG13 at PF.

That's my take on it. Bird was adamant about them going small and Vogel didn't do it

I hope that's not the case. Weren't they and PG sucking when he played the PF? He did it for awhile until injury I think.

Yeah, maybe he's getting senile. I read rumors about Mark Jackson too.

Let Vogel go and sign Mark Jackson is like if you could f**k Jessica Alba but finally you prefer your chubby with big breasts small-town friend

PG wasn't even that great when he played PF. He needs to just be loose at the SF position.

Not to mention the comments about him (PG13) early on saying that he doesn't know if he's up for playing PF. The guy started out as a SG that grew over time to play SF. Bird is on some things right now.

GHill/Stuckey/Monta
Monta/Stuckey/GHill
SHill/PG13/Miles
PG13/JHill/Turner
Turner/IM/JHill

Versatile line ups aplenty but Vogel went with a more traditional 2 bigs line up.

Personally I'd like to see Nate McMillan get the job. I think he did a lot of good things in Portland and am surprised he's never been rehired considering the retreads that constantly come back

I was so mad when we didn't hire McMillan over Mo Cheeks during the worst year ever in Pistons basketball in recent memory.

Watching this doc on sho time called (Kobe's Bryant's Muse) and it got me thinking, that he will make 1 hell of a coach 1day if he so chooses. The guy is extremely smart, killer instinct, true leader.

Hopefully he goes the route of assistant coach but than again he doesn't really need to.

If he was available and decided he wanted to come back to the sport and didn't go directly back to the Lakers,I would love to have him on this team in a coaching roll.

Another thing I've noticed, whenever I see a doc or interviews of teams or players that played our 04 team,we hardly ever get mentioned or if we do its always in a dismissing way, very short.

Just wish that team we get more of the recognision they deserve.

What I heard was that PG was fairly adamant that he didn't want to play PF and Vogel stood by his star.

Simmons says he thinks. I know he's in the know more than us lol, but still thinks. That's stupid if true. PG doesn't want to play PF so they might lose him too. Idk his contract situation tho

This Vogel/Bird situation is why SVG wanted full control.

Vogel is a good coach. He listened to his star player.

The GM had other ideas and now the coach is gone.

WTF?

If your star isn't comfortable playing PF why would you force him to?

It's possible Bird brings in a puppet coach who will do everything he says & move PG13 to PF...& it's possible PG13 then leaves when his contract expires!

Coming to a workable compromise between all concerned surely wouldn't have been difficult?

I think Bird is going senile. He did say he doesn't believe he would make it past a certain age recently I think. If he does lose a player of PG caliber because he wants him to play PF wow. He is close to bron and kd level at sf imo. Hell he could probably do sweet at point guard like Giannis. Bron and kd could do that too

Eh. As of today, Paul George is clearly a better defender than Durant (always) and Bron (unless he's really locked in), but he's not at all the same caliber of offensive player. The guy can certainly get scorching hot for a couple of weeks, but his shot selection is extremely questionable at times, and he doesn't have the elite IQ (Bron) or super elite length (Durant) that lets him make the right decisions or tough shots consistently.

He's a near-elite player, mind you, because real two-way guys are so rare, but he's not taking a team anywhere by himself.

No player takes a team anywhere by himself.

PG13 is the foundation you can build a successful team around - but not at PF

Imagine PG13 with Teague, Korver, Millsap & Horford...

He's really a guy minus defense that can do everything solid. Defensively he's always been great, not Kawhi level great, but great in general because of the length and combo of speed.

Offensively is where he kinda tapers off a bit and his biggest bottleneck toward absolute superstardom. He always seems to start off red hot in the beginning of the season, and then just kind of disappears after a while, putting up duds with great games in between.

He's a definite tease in that circumstance.

Looks like being swept by Cavs is not that humiliation...

We put up a better fight than Atlanta!

Tobias was here for what? 30 games before the playoffs - where familiarity and continuity matter most!

I know the average casual fan thinks that when you run a play its designed to get option A a shot - they don't realise you also have option B and option C

Those other options are easier to execute when players have experience together - which is why coaches value continuity more than GMs ever will

I honestly believe that if we manage to sign one quality bench PG this off-season it will make a huge difference...and if we also get a decent bench PF/C....well that's not the icing on the cake, that's the cherry!

Dre/Baynes
Harris/Mook
Mook/SJ/Bull
KCP/Meeks/Hilly
RJ

We all know our weaknesses - SVG, Bower & our guys can fix most of them this off-season!

This team with Amir Johnson and Dellavedova could be a hell of a team. We probably would take the Cavs to the 6 or 7 games.
