With the 86th Pick in the All Time Fantasy Draft, the
Cleveland Cavaliers select:
Jimmy Butler, 2012-2013, 6.2 FGA/G8.6 PTS @ 57.4 TS% (38% on 1.3 3PA/G), 4.0 TRB, 1.4 AST, 1.0 STL, 0.4 BLK, 121 Ortg, 104 Drtg, 15.2 PER, .158 WS/48, +1.9 BPM
13.3 PTS @ 57.5 TS% (41% on 3.1 3PA/G), 5.2 TRB, 2.7 AST, 1.3 STL, 0.5 BLK, 117 Ortg, 111 Drtg, 23.3 PER, .105 WS/48, +2.6 BPM
Not my best draft pick (I had some targets taken and picked in a hurry) but not too dissatisfied with the fit on my roster. He shot 38% from 3 in the RS, and then picked up both his volume (to a respectable 3.1 attempts per game) and percentage (to a sterling 41%) in the PS, although the sample sizes are pretty small. He was a plus defensively by the eye test and DBPM (although PI RAPM disagrees, putting him at -0.1), but I doubt Thibs would have given him 40 minutes a night in the playoffs if he wasn't at least decent on that end and he made the All-Defensive team the following year. And unlike some other options I considered he goes to the line, pressuring the other team, and is flexible to swing between the 2 and 3 due to his size and athleticism. The 2013 version isn't the ball handler that he became later one, but he's functional in that area and his AST/TO ratio of 1.85 is respectable for a slashing wing. Let's me keep Cooper at PG full time as he can handle the backup minutes at the 2, and he can fit into small ball lineups nicely.
