I mean, you can never truly replicate Jeremy's impact if he leaves but the question is what player provides a serviceable replacement.

I think you'd try to make a run at Tyler Johnson/Delladova/Seth Curry/Austin Rivers.

If not them, then maybe Chalmers/Foye.

Delly is different, but really high-impact player that can run the PnR great. Fierce competitor and fierce defender as well.

Chalmers is really good, Foye I'm not so sure about.

Q. does MJ ever make any comments on FAs? How much will he wield that we can know about regarding the major FAs? Batum, Marv, Lin, Lee, all huge contributors on the team. I think Marv and Lin are guys to ponder how to keep or replace.

Maybe because this is a Lin thread. Or should they go to other threads to talk about lin?

since when has Deng posted here? didn't think he was asian

Deng is a Chinese family name though in Mandarin "Pinyin" system, the former Chinese leader in 80-90 was Xiaoping Deng

Is that how I caused offense? I was just making a basketball pun off of Luol Deng's name. I had no idea that Deng was a Chinese name. Whoops, mea culpa.

My full expectation for Jeremy Lin is that he will be on the Brooklyn Nets.

Not for this thread. This is Lin as Hornet thread until he isn't a Hornet.

You've been trolling the Lin fanbase for the past several days and part of that is why this nonsense is still happening. I think you've done enough damage.

Yes and in addition to his playmaking (especially in transition), I think Lin's calling cards now include his big game play, and his defense. Plus what has always been his strength - his very quick first step, ability to get into the paint, and finish at basket.

--

Below is interesting tid bit I came across about Lin's beginnings as a Knick. Have a great weekend everyone -

One of the more turbulent aspects of Jeremy Lin’s storied run with the New York Knicks was his relationship with star player Carmelo Anthony. Both sides have claimed there were no issues, but those other than Anthony and Lin have told a different story.

That includes Amar’e Stoudemire, who co-starred with Anthony and Lin in 2011-12. Stoudemire told Marc Berman of The New York Post the following:

“…everyone wasn’t a fan of him being a new star. So he didn’t stay long. Jeremy was a great, great guy, great with teammates, worked hard. He put the work in. We were proud of him having his moment. A lot of times you got to enjoy somebody else’s success. That wasn’t the case for us during that stretch. You got to enjoy that and let that player enjoy himself and cherish those moments. He was becoming a star and I didn’t think everyone was pleased with that.’’

The working theory is that Stoudemire was alluding to Anthony with that last comment.

you know you might be better off going to a lin fansite forum and making a history post, much of what you posted is very old news. dont know why you are posting this now?

Adding lamb

Lin was a slight upgrade over Brian roberts worth maybe 2 games....

If you really think lin is the reason for a 15 game win swing you're more delusional than I thought. Lebron was worth an estimated 15 wins this season

you are delusional.

In a team without any superstar, the whole team is one superstar
- Jae Crowder

the Hornets played like one superstar, without any of these guys including Batum, Kemba, Marvin, Cody, Big Al, Lee and Lin, this team is going no where. There is a reason why Batum stated that he only consider stay if Cho can keep most of these guys next year. Without anyone of these guys, this team would only be around 42W40L.

Just a reminder that Jordan called JLin the biggest off season signing last summer:

Jordan made specific mention of Jeremy Lin, who joined in the Hornets from the LA Lakers this summer. Jordan saw it as a successful deal, "We just got Jeremy Lin, who I think is going to be our biggest acquisition. His penetration, his shooting capability, his point guard savvy, he can really pass the basketball, his energy about the game of basketball something," Jordan said.

If I'm Jordan thinking about a Jumpman on the front and Lin on the back of Hornets merchandise I give Lin 11-12 mln and don't blink.

JLin loved playing here, wants to win, seems to like not having the weight of a franchise on his shoulders, and could elongate his career by partnering with Kemba. I don't see any reason why JLin should leave.

But Jordon made this comment when he and Hornets were in China, so there might be considerations other than basketball. We shall see the outcome soon though.

After much consideration we've decided to lock the Jeremy Lin thread for the time being. This thread was starting to turn into it's own stand-alone, sub-forum under the Hornets board, which is not ideal.

If any relevant news about Lin and the Hornets occurs we will open this thread again for further discussion.

In the meantime, we invite Lin fans to participate in the other threads on this board provided that discussion is related to the Hornets (or the off-topic thread, or general NBA thread).

Reminder that Diop created a Lin free agency thread on the Trades and Transactions thread where Lin's free agency can be discussed among the general RealGM population.

As expected Lin opted out of his contract today (as previously posted in the offseason thread).

as BWS pointed out, sounds like the Internet may have jumped the gun on the Lin news.

I just want to know why cleveland.com keeps breaking Lin and other non-Cleveland news. Is a league office there or something?

This probably won't happen, and there is always email or text message, but if the Hornets turn off the answering machine and makes sure no one picks up when the agent calls, does that mean they get to keep JLin for $2M for another year? Like how the Knicks GM tried to dodge the Rockets representatives at the Vegas hotel in order to not receive the signed offer sheet and start the clock ticking.
