I remember earlier this year he was complaining about the lack of hip hop radio stations in toronto and said he was tuned in to some buffalo radio station. This dude had to grow up with a massive massive massive inferiority complex lol. Either that or he was bullied by the puckheads at tsn

To be fair I think the radio station is 93.7 and it actually plays a lot of great hip hop music you can't find on other stations. On my top 5 for sure.

But in all honesty, I feel like a lot Canadians who become US citizens probably act the same. They try hard to show their proud Americans but in doing so act way too patriotic than necessary.

This is not normal behaviour by any means. Many of my friends went to school in the US and eventually stayed as they finished school and found career opportunities. Most of them are now dual citizens, none of them acts anything like Mark Jones in person or online. This guy is a nut job of a desperate level.

Where has he not been accepted? He was much beloved by the fans in both Toronto and New Jersey. So that makes you a liar right there. As that's at least two places. Same thing everywhere else he's gone actually. He's respected by the fans, teammates, coaches, and management in Memphis.

I apologize for my first post lacking context, I see where you're coming from.

My point is more so that Vince is going to have trouble at the end of his career claiming a home, and the only place he can claim to be home is Toronto, and the reason he has tried to make amends is because he's a bit of a man on an island having played only 4 years in NJ.

I don't wish any ill will towards Vince. I have him dunking over the French guy as the background on my phone, still the most electric player to put on a jersey.

I have no problem with people born in Canada who eventually reside in the US or even take their citizenship. I do have a problem when you start talking down on Canada/Canadians as if you want nothing to do with us.

4 years with one team isn't likely to get raised in the rafters or be recognized as a team great.

Jason Kidd 4 years with the Mavs and an all-star appearance and title, and Cuban said (yes it was bitterness) he wouldn't raise him to the rafters.

I guarantee Vince will not have his name in the rafters in NJ. There are a plethora of guys who have had 4 good years with a team but haven't and won't, nor do they deserve to.

Vince has one shot, and it's here, and he knows it, that's why he released that documentary a couple years ago. He obviously grew up in some senses, but he also remained a liar to some degree. And this isn't bitterness, this is a reality.

He deflected away from him saying he didn't try his best and quit on his team, which has been plenty of years for the Raptors organization to get over of course, but one cannot really blame them for also saying you don't deserve to be up there, and he himself knows it as well.

The entire departure was bad both ways, with Richard Peddie being an idiot on MLSE side of things.

Vince is a smart guy, and he put Toronto on the map, and deserves to be up there for what he did for Canada basketball, but at the same time, he has done pretty selfish things that one could see why he shouldn't be up there. I think he will be up there, and he should be up there, but he also knows when he retires, and if he gets called to the hall (which I think he should), then the Raptors are the team he has to call home.

I guess he could call the Nets home, but it would be a bit of a head scratcher. They may embrace it as well, but would be odd I think in most NBA circles.
