AlOkay, after a bit of a mix-up earlier, me thinking the draft was 2000-2016... I am now selecting:

David Robinson (01)

Although 35 years old, Robinson was one of the most impactful players in the league. In fact, his PER (23.7) is almost identical to that of Duncan (23.8). He is close in win shares to Duncan (12.1 to 13.2) and handily beats out the likes of Kobe (4.2) and Dirk (4.7). He has a better BPM than Duncan (5.5 to 5.4) and he led the entire league in WS/48. Of course, a lot of these stats are closely related but they are impressive nevertheless. He played 30 minutes a night and for those 30 minutes was one of the most impactful players in the league, and I believe more in depth +/- stats support that assertion further.

He also only took 10.3 FGA/g (for 14.4 PPG), which will help me later on, and I like that he is a positive force on offense as well as defense, rather than being one sided. He does all of the little things and this makes for his tremendous impact. I thought about grabbing somebody else and taking a center later... but the impact is undeniable, as is the basketball IQ that doesn't always show up on the stat sheet.

Also gives me some championship pedigree :D

So there was a lot of strategy and thought that went into this pick..

I really wanted an elite 6th man and i feel that there is no better choice than OKC James Harden. I also love having the option to switch his seasons around if I miss out on any superstars in the later rounds of the draft--gives me a lot of flexibility. But for now I will stick with the 2011-12 version.

6MOTY
Extremely good playmaker
Elite at drawing fouls
Efficient as all get out.

Best of all, he checks in at only 10.1 FGA!

Yes please

PER = 21.1
Offensive Win Shares = 7.5 (5th in the league)
ORTG = 125.4 (3rd in the league)
TS% = .660 (2nd in the league)
FG% =.491
3P% = .390
eFG% = .582 (2nd in the league)

Chris Bosh (2010-2011)

With the bigs dropping like flies this wasn't a tough decision at all. I needed someone who wouldn't have a problem deferring to Kobe Bryant, and there are very stars who were able to divert their game and still be as successful as Miami Heat Chris Bosh.

13.7 FGA, Modest 23.5 usage rate, and a career high 10.3 win shares in 2010-11. His offensive rating per 100 possessions was 115, with his defensive rating per 100 possessions being 103 (a career high +12). Bosh is perfect next to Kobe because he'll defer, while being as effective as he ever was in his career.

Should take a big maybe since they are dropping fast.

But give me GOATbrook. Probably 2016. On phone so no picture but will update it.

Give me Chauncey Billups

Probably one of the most underrated players of all time. Mr. Big Shot.

The go to guy in key situations on that Detroit championship team. Amazing shooter and defender. Completely turned around the Denver Nuggets and destroyed Chris Paul in the 09 playoffs. There is clearly a better player on the board but with ultra high FGA. I'm going to stick to the plan of building a stacked team. I see plenty of great high volume stars left I can take in the 3rd or even beyond.

Was hoping I could get a shot at Billups just so I wouldn't have to think so hard about adding on this many FGA to my team, but at this point I just have to choose one of the best peaks of all time. Give me Tmac

Well, crap.

I wanted Ray Allen here 1st, then Tmac here second. That didn't work out now did it.

I'm going with a little "draft strategy" here since I think the guy I actually want to take here, SHOULD be here when it comes back around. And if I don't take who I am going to pick now - he will be gone.

Image

- Elite 3 and D player - as in GREAT on both ends of the floor.
- Can turn into the number one option when needed (aka the Batman to Lebron's "Robin".
- Wing's will soon be all snatched up.
- Team player, winner, etc.

Paul George and Lebron James are going to be a deadly combo.

Year TBD

JLei has informed me that he won't be around to make his pick so I am making it for him per his list.
Nice pick btw.

2009 - 2010 season

Arguably the best PG in the league (between him and Paul) - for about a 3 year stretch.

He was controlled and well rounded under Jerry Sloan.

18.7 PPG
10.5 APG
ALL NBA Second Team
ALL Star
47% from the floor
20.6 PER
Elite shooter
Elite passer
Good defense
Winner
13.9 FGA - A little higher than I would have like, but I have a plan to balance that

I like it - Deron / PG / Lebron

An integral part of one of the best teams of all time and the 6th man of my heart (and only 5.7 FGA), I'll take 2015-2016 Andre Iguodala

I'm going to take 2015 Jimmy Butler.

14 FGA

No major hardware yet, but I like him a lot because he gets to the line. Great athlete, defender, slasher, cutter, and shooter. Over 3 assists per game was kind of surprising.

The Pismo Beach Panthers select:

Dikembe Mutombo (2001) (7.4 FGA)

Multi-time DPOY, including the year I will be using. Elite rebounder. Elite shot-blocker. Best voice in the NBA.

Marc Gasol 2012-13

Defensive Player of the year
10.9 FGA and 19.2% usage rate
11.5 win shares (career high) - 6.1 offensive, 5.4 defensive
115 offensive rating per 100 poss. 98 defensive rating per 100 poss. (+17 is a career high)
4.0 assists per game, one of the best in the league for a big man
IMO the best C in the league that year.
