Oh don't give me this "negotiation man" crap. Absolutely ridiculous way to defend Vlade here. Clear interest from Joerger, clearly a deal can get done, clearly a top candidate for us, hesitation and waiting is exactly how you lose out on coaches and players. Stop toying around and taking a full on process of interviewing which sounds like a good idea but when Sam Mitchell, Mark Jackson, Vinny Del Negro are in competition for the job and that's whats holding up the process it's absolutely ridiculous not to finish a deal with a competent coach right now rather than wait to "negotiate" imaginary terms you believe.

Need to make a competitive offer ASAP if Joerger's their guy. Forget the process. Vlade should be able to adapt and alter the process when a top candidate becomes available and actually wants the job. Messing around and screwing this up would be a good way to keep the dumpster fire reputation.

He's in town a day after he was fired. What do you want from Vlade here?

We've got no idea how much the owner will be willing to pay, how long of a contract he may want.

You've got to lay the money out. If you have to treat it like spending 5 mil year a less in free agency, you do it. Coaching is so important

You realize that when these tweets were sent out, when your post was made, Joerger still hadn't even meet with Vlade yet? Funny how some of you go crazy.

To you or I it may be true, but I'm not sure what Vivek wants, we've got some leftover coaches salary, supposedly the minority owners were annoyed by that too.

But if it is a factor, how would you suggest Vlade "posture" here?

I mean it may not sound like a big deal to us, but if we are talking an extra year, or 1-2 million a year that could be 10 million bucks.

Also I'm sure Joerger will have some demands more than salary, maybe he'd like some family input too as they take a look at the area. In the meantime he could still decline, and if you went public about how bad you wanted him that could be disrespectful to whoever was considered later.

We're all kind of assuming that Joerger is only looking at Sac himself right? Who's to say you don't lay down and offer and he takes it to Indy or somewhere and else and just asks to match it, or beat it, then comes back at a higher price, and so on. If Joerger is like "I'm ready to sign", then yes, get the deal done and move on if he's the guy you've been waiting for anyway.

I saw someone report the proposed deal structure looks like it's 3/$12M

Unless Joerger stalls or outright rejects Sacramento, I can't see why Vlade doesn't put in a offer on the table TODAY.

Why the wait? Who else is a better candidate than Joerger? Messina? Blatt? Do they even want the Sacramento job anyways? We got a head coach who is virtually better than any coach that walked into Kings office since Adelman, imo. And is INTERESTED at the same time! If we manage to piss this opportunity away because Vlade wants to "follow the process" we are further cementing ourselves as the league's premier laughingstock of basketball.

Strange to have numbers that early.

I wouldn't trust that, and I'd also assume he'd ask for more than that personally at the start of negotiation.

The Kings probably wouldn't say that offer publicly either, it would give bargaining leverage to the next guy if it doesn't work out with Joerger.

it would be funny if this process thing would cost us a good coach and end up signing Henry bibby instead... and yet I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

The process? And taking time with this.

And the "process" of presenting finalists was stated long before he was available.

So it would be relying on an old statement then Joerger becoming available later.
