I really thought about him a couple rounds ago, (if we're thinking of the same player), but I would have had about 10 FGA for my 3 guys left at that point...

If it's either of the only 2 guys he could mean I think the issue is no one wanted to spend 20 shots on them.

2000 Sixth Man of the Year, Rodney Rogers, is my sixth pick. 43.9% on 3.2 attempts from beyond the arc (4th highest percentage in the NBA that year), led the league in RAPM that year according to this site:
http://ascreamingcomesacrossthecourt.blogspot.com/2014/03/2000-rapm-non-prior-and-prior-informed.html

He can play both forward positions. He'll get majority of his minutes as Bowen's backup. He could score inside and out, definitely a matchup problem for opposing teams.

With their 6th pick the Long Beach Longshoremen select:

Wes Unseld

I honestly kept searching the drafted list because I thought I was crazy when it occurred to me that Unseld hadn't been picked. I just assumed he was too perfect of a pick with too much celebrity to drop this far. But unless I'm blind, he's still available and I'm greedily adding him to my team.

Unseld won the MVP based on a narrative that many have since rejected, and yet it's a narrative we're currently seeing in effect through impact stats, and we're seeing implicit allusions to when we have a project like this where efficiency is at premium. Unseld was the superstar a step more intangible than Russell who basically just did what needed doing and did it each time with the intensity of an artist.

I thought about Unseld for a long looooong time. He has a lot of Ben Wallace in him, but he passed a lot better and his impact was even higher.

Ultimately seeing guys like Shaq and Hakeem out there on teams, and seeing Unseld at only 6'7", it kinda scared me.

Excellent, excellent pick Doc.

:D Yeah I thought about a lot of guys as my first backup, but ultimately settled on Bogut due to exactly what you're describing. Not that you can't scheme against those guys, but against post players having a good man defender who can limit help needed goes a long way.

Thanks, and yeah it's going to be a challenge convincing people that Unseld could hang among the giants, but I believe he would.

Yeah I wanted Wes as my backup big next pick. Nice to see him finally go. Now there's only 4 MVPs unselected by my count.

When you put it like that, it would be a fun time to be looking for your stars right now (had you started by picking favorite role players).

Wojo played us all for fools with that Fred Brown pick.

Role players galore:

Jared Dudley 2016 (6.0 FGA)

and

Shaun Livingston 2016 (4.9 FGA)

Dudley played a lot of power forward this year, and shot 42% from 3 on decent volume. He'll be a back up and will see time at both forward positions.

Livingston is a very talented player capable of handling the ball and controlling tempo as a back up for Kidd. He's part of a pretty solid bench for a 73 win team, so he should have no problem fitting in on this juggernaut of a team. He's spent time this year with both Klay and Curry on the floor, so he's fully capable of guarding bigger players as well so he'll see time at the 2 spot as well.

I know I'm not a part of this project, but I've been following it. Livingston was a great bargain pick at under 5 attempts, Gilmore and Unseld were sweet too. What a great concept for a game. Looking forward to seeing more.
