Well the cost of living is definitely lower in the US if you have a decent job. My aunt live in Atlanta and there are 4 bedrooms houses out there for $300,000. Same thing with Florida. Clothes are cheaper too. But like you said, if you don't have a decent job you're screwed. Also no mat leave for women!!

I have been to many places in America and they are all the same or worse. The amount of segregation and the difference btw rich and poor communities is astonishing. Also, if you lived there and had to pay for your health care, be worried about how many people have a gun, the murder rate, and pay $30,000 a year just to educate yourself past a high school diploma so that you could get a decent paying job and then still be over $100k+ in personal debt, you would probably appreciate the benefits of being Canadian much more, like many Americans do.

Only major difference is the weather in the south. But weather gets played out quickly when life is a dangerous and difficult struggle. Just ask the nearly 50 million very poor people living the "American Dream" daily south of our border.

As a Canadian, when I visit Cancun at an all inclusive hotel resort, Mexico seems 10x better too. Lol. But live there, get a job, make their wages, educate yourself, raise a family, deal with the murder, crime and corruption, and it's obviously a much different situation.

All the quality of life indexes and best cities in the world lists have Canada far ahead of the US in terms of best places to live in the world.

But it's true if you don't have coin you're going nowhere fast. Which is the same in Canada, but not nearly as bad here.

If you have a ***t ton of money, NYC probably has no equivalent. But if you don't, you might as well live anywhere.

Yes - depending on certain factors - it is a better place to live than Canada. Thats capitalism. If you have money and depending on the area - absolutely. Agreed. I lived in Naples, Florida for 2 months in January and February - Naples is basically a sheltered hole on the beach for old people with nothing but shopping and golf courses. So glad to be out of there but still its super nice and is not representative at all of most of the US. Also a place like Miami, LA, NYC in certain areas is very nice. It just depends. In terms of opportunity - I can't disagree - I have an online business which serves tens of thousands of people - 95% of those people coming from the US. So yes - if I didn't have that US based business - not sure what Id be doing. I credit the US for a lot of what I do. I love the US - I've stated that in my posts in this thread - its just his overall arrogance of shoving his US patriotism in peoples' faces - as if those people are jealous that they aren't in his position.

He's a hack who has a bolstered ego. His hate for Canada is also just straight weird and so obvious he has a huge insecurity towards the country he comes from. He makes sure to go out of his way to throw little jabs at Toronto on TV and on Twitter. Jones - you're a hack if you're reading this. Im not some sheltered Canadian who doesn't spend time in the US myself either - I spend 4-6 months per year in the US - but you're approach and overall hate is hilarious & comical.

Canada is the greatest country in the world

I think a lot of people on both sides of the boarder would be surprised at how similar the two countries are.

This is my 8th year living in nyc and while I love the city, I felt the same way about T.O. (which is still my fav).

I grew up just north of Toronto with this idea that Canada was so diverse and so respectful of culture... then I went to New Market, like an hour north and was blown away at how racist and closed minded people were (this was the early '00's). Which made me realize my vision of Canada was based solely on my experience in Toronto, which might be the most diverse and accepting city in the world.

I'm a musician so I can't really make much of a living away from big cities (though I love me some nature) but reality is you've got hicks less than an hour outside of just about every major city. I've been blown away at the intolerance and bigotry I've experienced in lots of big cities too, so...

One thing I think Canada wins hands down is that it actually cares about it's citizens and their quality of life/health/education (unless you're native ) whereas the social systems in the states are set up where basically if someone hasn't figured out how to get rich off of it then it doesn't exist. The states obviously wins hands down on opportunity and access.

There's some pretty heavy puritanical influence down here such as the way a woman's right to access abortion is somehow an ongoing debate, especially in the south... which is mind blowing to me but hey, I'm just a liberal minded Canadian "Resident Alien" as they like to call me.

I love a lot of the United States, and totally understand why somebody would prefer living in California or New York to anywhere in Canada for example. Hell if I won the lottery, I'd spend all winters in LA. Though obviously Canada is tiers above in terms of quality of life, general ideology, and standards of poltical discourse.
