Grizzlies players
With Joerger now in, do we have an advantage on picking up any of the Grizz' FAs? Aside from the obvious Conley, I have my eye on a few of their vets to add to our bench. Would Matt Barnes want to finish his career at home? Possibly for a discount? He would be a nice 3&D addition to our bench aside from being able to hit the 3 and play D, he adds vet leadership, toughness, energy and versatility to our bench with his ability to play 2-4. Another guy I have my eye on is Mario Chalmers. He's a knockdown 3 pt shooter and would be a solid PG/SG to our bench. Anyone else we should target? Or does the Joerger connection not give us an advantage at all?

Re: Grizzlies players
I saw a tweet from somewhere, I think Carmichael Dave retweeted it, that said Barnes had a strong relationship with Joerger and could very well follow him here and I would definitely not be opposed to that. Obviously Conley is the coveted guy to steal from that team but Chalmers could be a good piece off the bench as well.

I think it really depends on how close Joerger was to the players mentioned.
Conley would obviously be awesome, and perhaps he isn't as much of a pipe dream as some of us thought.
I don't think rondo is a Joerger type PG, so I doubt he is resigned.
Chalmers and Barnes could be under the radar good signings, but it really depends on the teams depth.
Does Barnes have a role with Casspi and Rudy? Casspi showed last year that he is a reliable 3 point shooter and a big piece of the bench. Does curry get resigned? I like him, not as much as most, but I think he's solid.
I would take a strong look at players like Beverly, Ariza, maybe Ryan Anderson.
Conley obviously would be awesome though as he is my favorite player in the nba.

Re: Grizzlies players
I think Barnes would have a role with Rudy and Casspi on the team. Now he probably wouldn't play 25+ mins a night, but I could see him getting 15-20 depending on matchups with his ability to play SG, SF and PF. Same with Chalmers. I honestly don't think Rondo or Conley are huge upgrades to Collison. The Kings should use that money elsewhere. Resign Curry, sign Chalmers and go with a PG rotation of Collison, Curry and Chalmers with both Curry and Chalmers seeing some time at SG as needed.
I would love picking up Ryan Anderson. If we add Anderson, Barnes and Chalmers we most likely still have more money to work with plus the #8 to improve the team. We possibly go from a bottom 3 pt team to a top or at least middle of the pack.
Cousins/Koufus/WCS
Anderson/WCS/Casspi
Gay/Casspi/Barnes
McLemore/Belinelli/Chalmers
Collison/Curry/Chalmers
SG is still possibly a concern. Honestly I could see McLemore improving with another offseason of hard work. With that team all he literally has to do is knock down 3s and play D. He also should improve his ballhandling and decision making, but those are things I feel like hasn't clicked with McLemore up to this point and probably never will.

Realistically the Kings chances are as strong as Brooks attracting KD to Washington.

Re: Grizzlies players
As a Grizz fan I can tell you that there are no deep ties between Joerger and any of the players on the roster. Conley and Marc made a pact to re-sign with Grizzlies. They are a 2-piece deal.
Barnes would probably want to be in CA so he can be close to his twin boys. I can't see him wanting to play for a losing team, especially after such a rough season with the Grizzlies, but Sac may have a chance at him because of location; not Joerger.
Chalmers tore his ACL so who knows what will happen to him. He rejuvenated his career a bit with Memphis, but there is no telling who he credits more for that: Joerger or the Grizz organization and players. My guess is that he's closer to the players on the Grizzlies roster than he is to Joerger. He says that he and Conley have been friends for a long time.
Also, throughout the season, Joerger called the team old and not very good. After a loss, he said Charlotte was a better team. He benched both Zach and Tony Allen in favor of Jeff Green. I don't think Joerger made any friends with the guys on this roster. If the core or vets wanted to be coached by him, he'd probably still be with the Grizzlies imo.
So, I would say having Joerger is more likely to reduce your chances of landing a Grizz vet than increase.

Re: Grizzlies players
Jeff Green is the guy I kind of half worry about. He's a decent talent but as is team wise, unless it's as a cheaper Gay replacement I don't see him making a difference with the Kings. It would obviously depend on how much the Clippers like him as well.
I still think Lance Stephenson could be an under the radar get. He had a bit of a run under Joerger.
As for the rest. Conley ain't coming to Sac, and Memphis clearly has a big say on what they want to do considering they can pay him the most money. Unlikely the Kings even have the finances to look at someone like Conley considering it would take too much of that space they'll have a hard time stretching as is. Any major names will have to come via trade or sign and trade.
Barnes is, eh. Yeah, he might look at a bench role on a contender but finishing his career off at home seems logical. It's also because of Sac his career got pulled off of life support back in '04.

Yeah this sounds like sour grapes to
Me. The grizz are about as dysfunctional as the Kings they just keep it behind the scenes.
I doubt Joerger would go to bat and literally cry for players he had no relationship with.

Conley is def still a pipe dream but it would be an awesome get.
I think Ryan Anderson is the big offseason target. We will see how it shakes out.

He did it pretty late too so he's probably done for most of next season anyway.

I knew someone would label this as such. I'm just answering the damn question. I have no reason to be sour.

I thought so. One of the main reasons I replied. Chalmers was great for the Grizz. His injury had a worse impact on the team than Conley's. I hope he gets back to form. It's always bad to have an injury but one of this magnitude at this particular time in his career really sucks. I would suspect any team would be a little wary of signing him.

I suspect that he will, if not close to it. The front office and his teammates think very highly of him. They've been pumping him up...calling him top 5 point guard in the league. It's ridiculous. IMO, He is mediocre as hell and should NOT be maxed out. But the Grizz may have to overpay to keep him since we are not a desirable free agent destination. Got to sort of take what you can get.
Plus, everytime I tune in to other team or national broadcasts, they are calling him the most underrated player in the league. smh He's been getting alot of hype past couple of seasons.

Matt Barnes would be perfect if Gay was traded and we developed a sf we draft.

Re: Grizzlies players
I think Rudy & Casspi are pretty decent SF rotation. Both players can handles minutes at the 4 spot in pinches as well.
I think we need someone to pair up with Collison in the backcourt too (preferably the Crabbe's, Bazemore's type of players, imo). Also, additional depth in the G position here would be nice too.
If we were push hard for Conley, and lets just say we did snatch him up. So, does a Conley & Collison back court duo works?
Or do we push Collison into the bench as Conley's main back up and we still look for a SG to pair up with Conley?

Depends on what SG comes to town if any about the duo of Conley and Collison. I'd say bring him off the bench if we had anyone decent. We simply need his offensive ability to be there during all of the bench minutes.
We could go a few different ways with trades or signings. Walking into free agency without a stretch of Landry to deal with, or the partial from Thompson will be nice though.
