Jason Walker had a good piece at Peachtree Hoops. In it in the comments he defended his take on DS and Teague:

I'll go out on a limb and say there is no chance Teague is here on Opening Night this Fall.
It's a year late to sell on him...but keeping him around at this point doesn't really benefit the team. Keeping one of our top 4 players on the bench at all times makes no sense. especially with the deficiency at SF & SG.
Convert Teague into a wing player or draft pick.
Sign a vet to backup Dennis. Teach that boy: how to pass early in the shot clock, how to move without the ball, when to take over a game.

I am with you 100000% . Hopefully the Hawks can flip him into Oladipo or maybe Mclemore or something, I dont even know what he could get back for us, but it has to be something.

MClemore seems attainable.
But I fear the Oladipo window has passed...unless ORL gets D Howard back this summer and goes all-in for one last run.
Missing out on Victor O really hurts right now.
Not only could he have helped in this playoffs with elite perimeter 'D'.
...He could be dangled as the centerpiece in a trade for Jimmy Butler or J Harden.
Terribly poor asset management by the Front Office not to go through with that trade.

I'd easily trade Teague, our first, and the Minnesota first for Ola-3&D-ipo.
Unfortunately I doubt that Orlando would be interested after trading for Jennings mid-season.

Sup guys, Orlando definitely is going to check Oladipo's... well every player (except Aaron Gordon and Hezonja) value this summer, but Jennings isnt resignin with the team he's just a clearing space move, also he plays PG and Dipo is playing SG 90% of the time.
Also the Magic is trading anyone of the core for an upgrade, i dont see trading for picks anymore, well i think we arent going to keep the pick if a possible trade is evolving it as the Magic is in a WIN NOW situation next year. Good luck finding Teague a destination!

H3ll, yeah.
And we 'd still have Teague (and/or DS) to dangle in talks if necessary

Re: 2015-16 Atlanta Hawks Offseason Thread
Sounds like the coaching staff encouraged AL to focus more on his inside game this summer after an underwhelming scoring year and substandard post season shooting the ball...
For all the debating the fandom did regarding AL as a 3pt specialist, this seems like a no-brainer, right?

Absolutely. It is a crying shame that Al has been in the league now for 9 years and has like zero post game.

Re: 2015-16 Atlanta Hawks Offseason Thread
Philly fan site proposes two separate packages, one built around Jerami Grant, the other centered around Nerlens NOEL, to acquire either Teague or Schroder.
No way we turn down the Noel package if we could pull something like that...

HereTo improve the team going forward, the Atlanta Hawks need a player who is versatile, strong defensively, but someone the team can develop into a true starter moving forward.
As a stroke of good luck might have it, the Philadelphia 76ers have two such players who could make an immediate upgrade to the Atlanta Hawks in defending the paint – Jerami Grant and Nerlens Noel.

Well, our GM Henny is saying that is our #1 priority this off season, but you know, that could be just a media tactic to keep away possible offers for him, he's restricted. It all depends if the Magic can sign Parsons, Batum or Barnes, Fournie is playing the SF position. BTW someone talked about a Millsap-Oladipo trade, that is much more intriguing, maybe if the magic can dump some salary at it. PM was the #1 option last summer (as you surely know)

We would have 12 million in cap room removing all cap holds other than Al and that should give us a chance to sign Joe Johnson as a free agent.
This is clearly excluding trading our assets which is a separate subject.

I see Durant leaning towards the Spurs. Durant has already said that he cares most about playing for a good coach, I have the Hawks in Durant's wish list...
1. Spurs - He gets to play for Pops and live in Austin
2. Thunder - Stays home with Westbrook
3. Hawks - Gets to play for Budz on a vet team
4. Boston - Gets to play for Stevens
5. Lakers - Just signed Walton and be the king of LA after Kobe.

Hawks need to flip him or any body for Harrison Barnes or any 6'9 SF they can man up against Lebron, because Lebron is the only thing in the way of the Hawks in the Finals.
Get Jaylen Brown or somebody, anybody who can be the Hawks' version of Kawhi.

Re: 2015-16 Atlanta Hawks Offseason Thread
HereLeBron James sends Hawks and Al Horford into a pivotal offseason
Considering that Atlanta came into this series thinking it was a better team than the one James nearly averaged a triple-double against last year, this latest sweep makes it feel as if the Cavaliers are light years ahead of Atlanta now.
...the Hawks are still nowhere near the level of James and his Cavaliers.
Al Horford will be a free agent this summer. He turns 30 in June and could very well command a maximum contract...even with the rising salary cap, do the Hawks offer Horford a five-year maximum contract, knowing that fifth year could be a hard number to swallow?
...the 6-foot-10 center grabbed a total of 14 rebounds in the four-game series.
Probably size, I’m guessing,” Jeff Teague said when asked what the Hawks will need to add in the offseason. “Some more scoring? I don’t know.
It was clear the Hawks could use a tall shot-blocker in the paint...the Atlanta defenders were often caught helping in the paint and leaving Cavaliers shooters wide open or rotating over too late.
One Cavalier noted the difference between Atlanta and Cleveland’s first-round opponent, Detroit, was that the Pistons had Andre Drummond inside to alter shots.

AL Horford wrote:I probably got a little away from the post this year trying to expand my game and do different things, that is a point of emphasis that I will try to be better in the post and be able to put the ball down a little more on the floor.
Full Quote of Horford acknowledging he spent too much time/effort away from the paint.

HereCoach Bud wrote:We value continuity, we value what this group has done, the success that they have had, and a lot of times continuity is your best hope in taking that next step. Can you have a balance of continuity and some additions and bolster it and walk that fine line of adding and embracing continuity?
So if the question is about beating somebody...We are just like the rest of the East right now and that is the challenge.
HereCoach Bud wrote:Losing to Cleveland twice is tough. But to the fanbase, to people who think (about blowing it up), if we want to find a way to beat, whether it be Cleveland or whoever the great teams in the league or our conference are, blowing it up is probably not the way to beat a team like Cleveland....”
Bud still thinking like a coach. Insisting on keeping the core with minor adjustments.
I'm guessing trading a PG and adding a player in the draft...
Budenholzer isn’t ready to reveal his plans at point guard for next season.
The Hawks, though, have repeatedly talked about seeking to improve from within this offseason. Having veterans like Millsap and Horford add new weapons to their games is a step in that direction as younger players...continue to develop.

Re: 2015-16 Atlanta Hawks Offseason Thread
Not getting the Barnes love. He's been underwhelming as a role player and hasn't stepped up in the least during Curry's absence in the playoffs. He turned down a 4 year 64 mil extension so I don't even want to contemplate the type of money he's looking for to be a more passive version of Marvin. Moe Harkless looks like the more intriguing and cheaper RFA.

I've had my eye on Harkless this year in hopes that he shows enough for us to take a look at him.
