If I'm the warriors who am I hoping wins the SAS/OKC Semi? Spurs are the better team but depending on curry's recovery rate, he might have more time to get his legs under him in SA without GOAT trying to attack him 1 vs 1 and durant shredding GS's permiter defense

Yeah, but the Celtics missed their best player in the 2009 playoffs, which probably prevented a re-match of the 2008 finals...Both teams had a "healthy" dose of bad luck.

It comes off as incredibly daft from doc to use perkins as an example to compare to steph curry instead of the KG exampl3 yeah different times but the quote sounds so naively ridiculous

Honestly you don't bring him back unless he's healthy. Yah the 73 wins becomes an asterisk and whatever but you have a young dynasty going. You don't bring him back unless he's 100%.

Maybe I'd feel differently if they hadn't already won one. Annointed future dynasty's sometimes don't come to fruition (OKC for instance, though more to do with front office stupidity) but this team is so good. They will get another chance even if they get knocked out.

What? Care to explain?

Moot point now that CP3 is out and Curry should be back by WCF.

It's the Patriots argument and it's true that no one talks about them as an all time great team because they didn't win it. Even though they were undefeated until the Final game.

Same thing would happen here. People will mention it but it will fade because someone else will be champion. If the 96 Bulls didn't win it all for whatever reason they wouldn't have been the GOAT team.

Asterisk around them being a GOAT team not around achieving the 73 wins. Because IMO they are up there with any team but won't matter unless they win it all.

JulesWinnfield wrote:I really think the Warriors minus Curry are pretty overrated around these parts. I've seen them floated as a mid 50s win team minus Steph which I personally find a massive stretch. People can point to a sample tainted by a lot of garbage time, but with its admitted flaws the off court sample this season doesn't indicate this squad is remotely on that level.

How about the sample with Draymond ON, Curry OFF, where they are still a +8 team?

Add playoffs and were up to about 500 minutes and +11.

Admittedly this sample is smaller than the Curry off, but probably more accurate considering Curry and Draymond sat at the same time together a lot, and also garbage time when both were off.

Do the reverse, Curry On, Dray Off and the Warriors tumble to a +1 team (inc playoffs). This is getting down to a piddly 246 minutes, but still tickles a bit of interest that the gap is so vast in favor of Green's impact.

Actually, the funniest thing about that quote, to me, is that Doc said "us" meaning the Celtics, when he's working for another franchise. That's so awkward...

Damn 0-9 from 3. If Portland don't win this game, they'll get blasted by Curry the next game.

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.
