I almost made this pick in round 3, so I am quite excited.

I need a point guard.

Image

Not Westbrook. I need the other guy. Andre Miller, but not the 40 year old version. I need the one from 2002 that has numbers only matched by Chris Paul. One who will mesh perfectly with brand, Robinson, Bowen, and most of all Durant. Who can run what Pop wants to run. The guy who put up these numbers running an offense without talent and on low possession games.

You have to understand that, like Elton Brand, Miller has a very obvious one year peak.

16.5 PPG (12.9 FGA/g, 54 TS%)
10.9 APG
3.0 TOPG
4.7 RPG
1.6 APG
. 4 BPG
Image

Only CP3 has averaged that number of points/assists and 3 or less TO (2008 and 2009). Per 100 possessions it is the same story, just Miller and Paul. 21.3 PER, good efficiency for that year (would be 2-3% higher today relative to league average), insane efficiency passing the ball on a bad team. Now he gets to orchestrate Durant/Brand/Robinson/Bowen/whatever.

And he was young. He was a neutral defender, but he got steals and wasn't a negative.

I love his pacing and playmaking on this team, and Pop even signed old Miller this season. I can only imagine he would love the 25 year old version.

I have to zag a bit here. I can't pass this guy up. Theo Ratliff will be moved to my bench and Gasol back to the center spot and I'm selecting:

Can't believe I haven't drafted any forwards yet. I'm actually a little suprised that I'm getting this guy this far back in the draft. Any who, I need a defensive minded wing who can produce a little offensively as well. Give me Luol Deng.

Image

2011-12

2 X All-Star
All NBA Defense 2nd team this year

PPG = 15.3
RPG = 6.9
APG = 2.9
SPG = 1.0
FG% = .412
3P% = .367
TS% = .500
Defensive Win Shares = 3.6 (13th in the league)
Defensive Rating = 99.4
Offensive Rating = 105.4

I love Deng's size at 6"9 because I can play him as my primary 3 but run small ball lineups with him as my 4 and Davis at the 5. He's a great defender and isnt a black hole offensively. I really needed to address my wing situation so I'm pretty happy to be getting him here in the 6th round.

Modern Era Fantasy Draft Game: THE DRAFT

Post#84 » by ATL Boy » Tue May 10, 2016 8:54 pm

Gimme some

PJ Brown 2000-01 off the bench

4.7 defensive win shares, over 9 rebounds per game, excellent mid range game, on just 7 FGA. 109 offensive rating, Defensive rating of just 98.

2nd team all defense that year, so whenever Bosh or Gasol check out of the game, the elite defense will never drop off.

The Pismo Beach Panthers select Giannis Antetokounmpo (2016) (12.7 FGA)

Just can't pass up on yet another extremely versatile player who can play and defend multiple positions. Allows me to go for the best value when filling out the rest of my bench since he can fill 1-4 for me in a bench role.

Every championship team needs a solid contributer who is a former star, in my case superstar. Calling on Blazer Pippen to step forward.

I'm taking Boris Diaw. Earned the nickname "3D" for his ability to Drive, Dish, Defend. And then kept the nickname because he gained enough weight to become the league's most 3 dimensional player.

He gives me great versatility going forward.

In his skinnier 2006 small forward season in which he won MIP, he was a 10.5 FGA player who played everything from pointguard when Nash went down to center in the playoffs. Averaged 13 points 7 boards and 6 assists in the regular season and upped his game to 19 points 7 boards and 5 assists per in the playoffs.

I can also go with the next season of Diaw in which he averaged 7.8 FGA

or I can go with Fat Diaw for 4.4 FGA the point center who played great defense on Lebron and created offense off the bench.

I'm taking Jared Dudley (can't decide between 2009-2010 and 14-15) Great defender, allows me to move Iggy to a better role of being 6th man, and I can slide him down to the 4 and KG to the 5 for a deadly Lowry-Iggy-TMAC-Dudley-KG lineup.

Here we go.

For those keeping track - all triangle fitting players have been drafted.

Deron, George, Odom, Lebron, O'Neal, Camby can and would excel in the triangle. Obviously Odom has.

We easily take the best coach ever.

He knows what to do with stars obviously.

Let's go!

Steve Kerr

I may use him as my championship head coach or as a championship player for the Spurs. Currently undecided but this will give me flexiblity with my last two picks.

Might as well beat the run on coaches.

Image

man that's a weird picture.

Lot's of players I still like but I couldn't live with myself if Rick Carlisle got scooped up with Dirk on my team. As far as making adjustments and rotations to counter the other team he is the best there is in my opinion. Plus Chuck will probably And1 this so that's pretty cool.

Paging young Andrew Bynum. 2010 Andrew Bynum. NBA Champion. Oh so full of offensive and defensive potential.

I need someone whose priority on offense is his post game; can easily plug him in for Chandler and not lose defense while gaining more.

The Pismo Beach Panthers select Pat Riley as our head coach. Can he win playing Showtime? Oh yeah. Can he drag an 8th seeded Knicks team to the Finals? Oh yeah. Can he win with a superstar explosive guard? Oh yeah.

The Atlanta Sports Heartbreaks select: the Defensive Mastermind, Tom Thibodeau

With elite defensive players across the board, we put it all together by selecting the coach that'll turn them into an absolute nightmare for any and every opposing offense.
