Spurs got old, OKC may pull off the upset. I really thought the Spurs would play their game tonight and win on their home turf. Now it is do or die. Go down in OKC or get the win there and play game 7 on your home court.

So many people around here joked that Biz couldn't be a key rotation player of a deep playoff team while few of us disagreed. I wonder what the Biz doubters think now. Maybe this was discussed lengtly in another thread or earlier in this thread and I missed it. If so, can somebody direct me to that discussion with a link. FYI, I miss Biz on this team.

I think Biz was and is a massive offensive liability. He's great if you have a team full of iso players that will carry you offensively and you are ok giving minutes to a guy that can't pass or shoot.

And that still doesn't touch on the subject about people saying that Biz wouldn't be a key component on a deep playoff team.

His team barely made it past a 7 seed in a series where he attempted a total of 11 field goals.

Not sure this qualifies as a deep run yet.

I mean you left out 4 of our starters. We don't want to be ISO heavy. This season we had much, much better ball movement than we ever have, resulting in by far our best offense in the last 15 seasons.

Biz is dead weight offensively.

however, he was critical for the Raptors, without him, the Raptors probably has lost the first round already... he is an impact player in a lot of ways, not necessarily shoot the ball, post up etc... when he is a roll man off PnR actions, he is so effective, defenders have to respect his rolling abilities...
nowadays, a big who can protect the rim and set screens is more valuable than soft bigs with mediocre scoring abilities, like Hawes...

Not hating on Kemba, but Biz just needed a different PG to really thrive IMHO. It also helps that he doesn't have MKG on the wing.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

We had zero drop off defensively or on the boards this season compared to last season despite not having Biz or MKG. We have had a bottom 5 offense for the last five years, but that jumped up higher this season than it has in a long time largely because we assembled a bunch of high BBIQ guys with diverse skillsets.

I still think letting Biz go was a perfectly defensible move and I don't want him back.

Biz is just as good as Cody offensively. I don't care what you say.

Eh. Defensible? Maybe. I would rather say that it wasn't indefensible at the time, personally.

We averaged 1 more assist per game this season in comparison to last season.

Both Kemba and Biz respectively just needed better wing threats to stretch the floor. How is Biz gonna score or catch the ball in the paint if it was always clogged with midrange shawties Hendo and MKG? Then how was Kemba supposed to utilize the pick-and-roll properly because of the same reasons. We were a top 10 offense this year with Kemba at PG averaging as many assist as Tony Parker. Gone are the days where you're gonna seriously win with one guy tallying 10 assist. You need a collective effort of players that can pass at multiple positions. That's how you thrive in the modern NBA.

1). We could have have kept Biz and still added the same players and adding better skill set players would have done nothing but make Biz look better when he's on the floor.

2). I don't disregard the numbers but also don't think we're the best defensive rebounding team like they show either. When we're lacking physical rebounders and making up for it with scheme, you pay the price when you run into more physically gifted teams. If we had guys like MKG, Biz, Howard or Whiteside, we could play more up tempo and not have to have everyone crashing boards to compete.

We are not a good defensive rebounding team or rebounding team in general. The series against the Heat could not have made it more obvious. We have good defensive rebounding stats, which comes with a hefty price. It is like a player with good stats but people know he is not that good a player.
