That Memphis pick might be 3 or 4 years down the road, but it could be tasty. If I were DA I would keep that one in my pocket.

Agree with you 100% on this.

Yo we should trade them their own pick back to them. Let them tank 2 years & get a great pick.

Amir + Young + Mem Pick + Dallas pick. - maybe a 2nd in there too. Would that be enough? Getting their pick back is underrated because it lets them control their own destiny.

But counter thought -- I don't think Memphis has a choice to rebuild. So that's automatically a great pick.

16 - Nets high lotto.
17 - Nets high Lotto.
18 - Nets high Lotto.
19 - Grizz high lotto.

Sid enote - Memphis fans should be grateful for that run. Yeah, they only got to the wcf once & got swept, but they were always in a fight. Rarely got blown out. Every series was 6 or 7 (win or loss). They proved that they can build a team. Fans should give ownership a chance to rebuild there.

They definitely have had a nice run. Jerry "draft/trade guru" West was a big part of assembling this current team. Not sure Chris Wallace has that same magic touch.

A little off topic. His autobiography, (Jerry West), is a good read. Despite all of his success he has never been happy/satisfied. It is sad. When you are bored go to his Wikipedia. He has to be on the very short list of greatest executives of all time.

Brett Dawson: John Calipari says whatever NBA team takes Skal Labissiere in the draft is essentially getting the No. 1 pick in 2018 or 2019.

Hmmm...who said Danny plans to take Scal if pick is not top 2.

Im curious what oppinion draft exprets have on him, fiscella, others???

I only watched one highlights on youtube, but far the best comparison for me is Nerlens Noel, with worst defense and better jump shot.

Also measurements are very similar:

SCAL / NOEL
Height w/shoes 6' 11.5" /6' 11.75"
Weight 225 lbs / 206
Wingspan 7' 2" / 7' 3.75"
Standing Reach 9' 0" / 9' 2"
Body Fat 8.8 / 4.2

Maybe Danny is right 8-)

pretty sure it was DDB. Haven't followed SKAL at all, but unless the jumpshot extends beyond the arc, I'm not enamored at all with him (says the guy who has watched maybe 60 minutes of him).

John Calipari says many things.

From 4-5 games, reading articles and stats: The two problems with Skal are foul trouble and rebounding. The rest of qualities are clearly there. But those are big question marks. IMO, a smart evaluator can't neither be enamored with Skal nor hate him.

The way I see Skal is high risk, medium reward type of player who'll make either the person who drafted him or those before look stupid. He can be a strong contributor if he could stay on court, like Ibaka, but I personally doubt he has much star potential. He's simply too one-dimensional. Not a good post player, shot creator or passer.

Picking him @3-5 would be major disappointment for me, although I would very much be interested in Skal at 10+.

Last thing I want Ainge to draft with the Nets' pick is some project that could end up like Fab Melo. Too much riding on this pick.

Is Dragan Bender going to play in the NBA next year?

I said that. My contact said if Boston is outside of the Top 2 and isn't able to acquire an Established All-Star via trade, that Ainge would draft Skal. Isn't concerned about his down year. Loves his upside

That was the impression I got during that interview as well.

I'm ok with it if this move lands a transcending player.

Butler isn't one of them.

I think what they would do if they were targeting Skal is draft whoever at #4 or #5, then make a draft night trade with whoever drafts Skal later in the lottery. Boston in this scenario acquires another asset or player as well.

Let me be clear. This is NOT plan A, B, C or D. All this means is that I heard Danny likes Skal

Meaning he would trade down in the draft. Or up a few spots from slot 16 or whichever end your staring out from. No way in hell Skal goes top 10. If DA landed the 5 pick, just for argument's sake and couldn't swing a deal for a star, he would trade down from 5 to, let say, 12-15, which is where he'd go at best. Not a chance in hell Ainge drafts him at 3, 4, 5 or 6. Doing so would be by far the worst thing he's ever done to the Celtics. I'm not worried about this scenario playing out one bit. This is what plan Z looks like when Ainge said they were planning A through Z. This scenario would definitely be Z

4 day . I can taste it!

If the lottery let's me down again, as a grown man I can handle it now.

However it will certainly influence my entire perception on how to go about building a team.

Apologies for my ignorance but at the draft lottery will the pick we get from Brooklyn be announced as the Nets or as it is already conveyed to us will it be announced as Celtics?
This is hardly even fair, the rest of the league is playing checkers and Danny Ainge is playing 12-dimensional chess.

3/4 (Dunn? Murray?) to SAC for WCS/Skal?

3/4 to ORL for 11 (Skal) and Gordon or Hezonja?

Skal is going to drop to the late single digits like Drummond did, and like Amare did- unless Phoenix or New Orleans reaches for him.

I watched some of his March minutes, he's legit. Has to get his mental awareness up to the pro and NBA pace- James Young proves how tough that can be. But good measurements, great fluidity, hasn't been playing long. Projects as a smooth scoring big man.. Looks like Lamarcus Aldridge with more defensive potential. Or a much rawer young Al Jefferson.

Would be fun to see us wind up with a couple of blue-chippers for once (say Skal, Hezonja, plus Horford and another player in free agency). Think we should win and develop at the same time.

3 for Jimmy Butler makes us interesting, but three years from now we wish we have Skal/Hezonja.

Danny could hit a grand slam this offseason, needs to hit a home run at worst. Otherwise we look back on this summer for a decade regretting what might have been.

Doubt Hezonja or Gordon end up better than what Butler is now.

Well, since Isaiah will be representing the Celtics at the Lottery---pretty sure it will be the Celtics announced Pick.

Gordon is a monster. The Magic are not trading him. If for some godforsaken reason they did, the Celtics do that deal instantly.
