Klay has definitely taken his game to another level in these playoffs with Steph out!

The passiveness is gone. He is now decisive and aggressive on the offensive end.

At the same time still doing his great on-ball stuff on Harden and Dame!

Steph being out in the 1st and 2nd round maybe a blessing in disguise in the WCF, hopefully Finals, and definitely in the upcoming seasons.

He carried the offense efficiently in the first 2 rounds and is co-MVP of round 1 & 2, along with Draymond.

He locked down Lillard on so many possessions in the 4th last night. Clutch defense FTW. Solid gold.

I think he is a top 15 player and that is underrated defensively. 36 minutes a game, 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists. 47.4% from the field, 47.5% from behind the arc. Solid numbers for our all star on top of some excellent shut down defense on Lillard and Harden.

I'd still rather have Love though.

Oh and where has Clyde been? I miss his rants about Klay lol

He really stepped up compared to last year's playoffs where he was at best inconsistent.

But while he has played well without Curry playing, he started out shooting poorly in game 4. Seemed like he was pressing at the start of that game. Even though Curry wasn't hitting too many 3s, his presence opened up the floor and Curry swung the ball a couple of times to him to give him great looks.

That really did it.

The other part is, when Draymond is having a good game, that opens it up for Klay too. He's still a complementary player.

Not sure how you can make such declarations. With Curry out, Klay has been our primary scoring option and he has been the primary focus of both Houston's and Portland's defenses (and even sometimes when curry has played). "pressing" or "missing" shots is irrelevant -- every player does. The question is can he carry the team with Curry off the floor...going 6/8 in the playoffs says he can. He has been scoring big time and efficiently as well.

Think how anyone outside of Curry would do if you suddenly took their primary scoring option off the floor...how do you think the efficiency of any player -- durant included -- would fair? Heck, look at LeBron's numbers when Kyrie went out last year and he became the sole scoring threat...his shooting % was something like 38%.

Klay is playing his role, but when asked to, he's stepped up and led the team.

I think without Curry, they still would have beaten Portland but good chance they lose game 4 and then it goes to game 7.

Klay can be a #1 option and be one of the best defenders on just about any team.

well hes shown IMO that he could be a legit 1st option with the right guys around him.
not going to be a championship team but still he is a better version of reggie miller pretty much.

best 2 guard in the league, barely over harden.

I'm convinced if Klay didn't play for GSW, he'd be top 3 in the league in scoring. Kind of what happened with Harden when he left OKC.

This situation is perfect for Klay...he gets to be great without the load of carrying a franchise. With his low key demeanor, its a nice fit with the Alpha dogs. Klay is playing like an Alpha dog, but he doesn't have to wear himself out with all of the interview requests, and other obligations of a super star player.

Klay is great, but please don't go too far ahead of ourselves.

I don't think he is. Klay is on track to have a career that is just as good or better.

Offensively they are on par, Miller and Klay, but defensively, Klay is much better.

Are you serious?

Offensively, Reggie has been perennially the #1 option on his team. Klay has been the #1 option for 1.5 playoff series. Klay's best shooting season is .597 ts%. Of Reggie's 18 seasons, 14 of them is better than or equal to .597 ts%.

If that is "on par", the dictionary needs to change what "on par" means.

Defensively, Miller is no slouch either. He was always the primary defender against Jordan. While I think Klay can hold his own on-ball against Jordan, I don't see where "much better defensively" from.

Klay is great, but it is ridiculous to say he is better than Reggie.

I mean, Klay is great, but it is ridiculous to say he is better than Reggie.

I think Klay is one of the best defenders in the league one on one. He gets the toughest perimeter assignment, Reggie played more position defense, Klay plays PGs, SGs and SFs. I have seen Reggie play and yes he played against Jordan, but I can't recall where Reggie was specially assigned to shut anyone down. I think we all want to discredit our guys in favor of the stars from the past. I have seen many a Reggie game and I love Reggie Miller, one of my favorites, but he wasn't the guy who was called on to shut guys down. Even Iguodala has commented about how good defensively Klay is and the tough assignments he draws.

Yes, Miller was the #1 offensive option on the Pacers and he would run through screens all day long to get his shot off. Some of the greatest performances of all time he owns.

So I think Klay is right there with Reggie on the offensive end and even if he is a notch below, he is clearly a better defender than Reggie.

Agree mostly with everything but just can't get my head over the bold part.

When Klay's absolutely BEST shooting season is something Miller did 14 of his 18 seasons, and that is with Klay playing most of his minutes with Steph, the difference is more like NBA vs high school, much more than a notch below, or "on par", or something like that.

I am as much of a homer as anyone, but I still realize how much better Reggie is offensively than Klay, while holding his own defensively against an era of great SGs like Jordan and Clyde.
