If we're gonna max out Demar I hate to say that Powell will not reach his potential here. Call up the timberwolves and offer Powell the 9th pick and our pick for the 5th pickk and dieing. Norman is a timbs player for sure he can mold him into a Jimmy butler player

Robert Carter had a strong showing at the combine game. Also measured 6'8.5 in shoes, 7'3 wingspan, 8'10 standing reach, 250lbs. From what I saw, he was the best player for Maryland this past season. He'd definitely be on my radar at 27.

Damn, one of the players I like for #27 better not play himself up into the low 20s.

Re: Thank Nation! Pre-Lottery: Denver 9th, NY pick 7th (PART 4)
DD isn't going anywhere. Letting an All-Star go so we can bring in a rookie wing that may or may not be a bust is a good way to get Masai fired. Now bringing in a player that either complements DD or can play a similar role to DD when he goes to the bench is more ideal. But Powell is already a mini-DD, not sure what more is expected.
Seeing Chriss grew is encouraging. He is one of the youngest in the draft and has the potential to be 6''11' PF with range and athleticism. Ellenson being that big is also surprising although I don't think that's what we need. BB is not irreplaceable but it would be nice to keep him, I doubt it since he's so expensive. Bebe has looked decent when he played in the playoffs. He can back up JV next year.
Too many moving parts on a talented team like this one. I don't envy Masai at all since he has juggle free agency and drafting and need.

I'm starting to think Chriss might go before 9. Bc a 38.5 vert for a big is crazy

Ellenson becomes more intriguing now. If he can be a 4-5 instead of just a 4 I think he has more value. Chriss also more interesting.

Maybe we have different assumptions for what BB8 will get this summer, but if you think he gets about $10M/yr like I do, then how can you call him expensive in comparison to DD? Of course, maybe you also have different assumptions for what DD will get this summer. I hope someone other than Toronto gives DD the max this summer. He just is NOT max worthy to us. I want JV and DC and KL to get more shots next season. Less chucking and more scoring.

Demetrius being near the top overall isn't surprising. He gets up there. I'm actually in favor of taking Jackson if Masai decides to move on from Lowry. They're not totally disimilar.

i don't see defensive chops in either player. Even though offensively both of them look interesting, when you're a really poor defender and/or rebounder, that takes away a lot of appeal. I think both these guys are taken near the end of lotto, or should be at least.

Agreed. Chriss at least blocks some shots. Him as a stretch 4 I can cheer. Ellenson scares me, I think he just not athletic enough to play beside Val. That why I slightly glad to see him have bigger size, enough to be a 4-5 and come off the bench as a 5.
Skal, Chriss, Davis are at the top of my PF wish list.
I glad to see Valentine came in lighter. If he puts up decent agility numbers he becomes in play for our pick.

I think we take Davis or Sabonis at our pick, I'd put money on it.

Re: Thank Nation! Pre-Lottery: Denver 9th, NY pick 7th (PART 4)
I think the pick will either be Skal or Luwawu depending on how thing go with the process.
Much as I don't like Skal he has the best upside in our draft range, is young, plays a position of need and shoots the 3. Not to mention Patterson is expiring next season and I'm sure management would love to have a guy with a similar skillset on the cheap for the foreseeable future.
Luwawu is their safe pick IMO. A wing with good size who can do a little of everything. Shoot, slash, defend, rebound and pass. I think he will be a Batum type wing in this league when he matures.
If the pick is not traded and no players drop down the ranks, I expect it to be one of these guys.

I'm not comparing DD with BB8 at all. I'm saying we will keep DD because he's a young All-Star and we won't keep BB because he's not and will command double digits a year. DD might not get the max but he's going to get paid and we will pay him. I've accepted that and we should consider that when drafting / signing free agents.

I have a feeling we take Davis - watching him reminds me a lot of Amir.
Davis (and a couple guys) came in a lot taller than I expected. Ellenson, Chriss, Hield, and Poeltl are all on the higher end of what I thought they would be.
Honestly, after Ingram/Simmons/Murray/Dunn I'm not crazy about this draft so I'll probably be pretty satisfied with whoever we take. Davis/Chriss/Poeltl/Scal and I'll be okay. Valentine isn't a bad pick either but we are loaded at guard so I don't know how much sense it makes.
