Three ways LUKE can bring the Warriors' magic to L.A.
1. Developing a PG who can play without the ball
2. Striking the right balance from 3-point range
3. Capitalizing on the value of a playmaking power forward

Re: Three ways LUKE can bring the Warriors' magic to L.A.
1 & 3 it's all about player personnel, and we're close in achieving that with Russell& Simmons
2 is about coaching, and I think he can do that
I'd be very surprised if we don't get AT LEAST a 20 win swing next year
We might even make the playoffs if the stars align, lots of perennial playoff teams with question marks who might blow it up any second now ...really depends on the players we will get, it's not a question of "if we get players through FA", but "who will we get"
We need to spend quite a few bucks just to get to that minimum threshold mark, so we don't even have a choice here, we need to sign players even if we don't necessarily want to

1. Keep Mitch and Jim away from free agent meetings because they ain't got no juice
2. Be willing to let them play through mistakes and adapt to what the players stretches are on both ends over being rigid
3. Be man enough to pick a strong coaching staff on his own unlike Scott and man enough to tell Mitch and Jim **** off if they try to pick him one like they did brown in his last season and Pringles his first year

Re: Three ways LUKE can bring the Warriors' magic to L.A.
If I were Luke, I'd want a healthy mix of head coaches and player development coaches as my assistants. He needs at least one seasoned pro.
They should all be of a Laker or other Champion pedigree so that this young group can adopt that real Laker swag and own it, but they also need to be young enough to relate. A few ideas:
Bickerstaff (Luke's main veteran guidance asst)
Brian Shaw (experienced, on-court smarts dev.)
Rick Fox (swing man individual and team defense dev.)
James Worthy (big man development)
Mark Madsen (the brainiac system and chemistry cheer leading coach)
Another former head coach.

Re: Three ways LUKE can bring the Warriors' magic to L.A.
As far as Luke's system goes, it'll obviously be custom fit to some degree to best work with the roster he's given. But, based on his extensive triangle experience, his GSW and Kerr exposure, as well as the type of player he was himself, I expect a lot of ball movement, fun off the ball cuts, back screens, smoke screens etc.
I think he'll bring his own touch to it all, as well, not just fit a mold. I would not be surprised if we saw some Spurs offense (and defense) bleeding through at times. I would also not be shocked if I saw Phil's and Tex' "blind pig" being setup at times.

Bickerstaff and Shaw are both lead assistants, which means one of them would have to take a demotion to come here. Not happening. Rather have GP than Fox, I have the feeling he would demand more respect and would still bang with our young guards at practice.
Bickerstaff
Nash
GP
Worthy
Madsen

1. Sign Steph Curry
2. Sign Klay Thompson
3. Sign rest of Warriors Team
They're amazing, but they've got two transcendent shooters playing side by side and a very unique mix of guys. The only way to capture magic like that is make your own based on what you've got. Otherwise you're chasing a pot of gold.

Yup. Obviously you can bring principles and ideas to augment the overall structure of your organization, and I'm hopeful Luke can do that. I like his demeanor and I like his IQ. But I always get a chuckle when I've see stuff like this over the years, be it with the West Coast offense in football or the triangle in basketball or whatever. Most of those systems worked so great because they had incredible personnel, which is what it always comes down to: Talent.

Re: Three ways LUKE can bring the Warriors' magic to L.A.
Good article.
I'd add a couple of things:
1)buy into the team defense. GSW is a very underrated team defensively. Yes. They mainly are an offensive juggernaut but they play great team defense with excellent rotations etc.... and they do get stops when they needs them
2)change the culture around the team and the organization. This team has now been losing and losing bad for 3 years. It is important to bring the good, positive, attitude back. We have a bunch of young players. They will make mistakes periodically. As much as I loved BScott as a player in the Showtime years, as a coach, he let us and the players down with his tough approach.
This is a new generation. The millennials don't respond the same way as my generation did.

Random thought.
John Kundla, the first Lakers coach is still alive and now we got the youngest coach in NBA. WOW

I'm going to get all my lucky stuff tomorrow for the lottery. I would love to see Luke get a hybrid of the Warriors and 02 Kings offense with a great passing PF like Simmons. Hope the balls bounce our way, but even if they don't I'm thrilled Luke is in LA again. U can only control what u can control.

Not sure I'm getting the context of his tweets.
I hope it rubs Luke and Mitch the wrong way so we can cut him.
