Any thoughts on what we should do with the pick?

Surprised the basketball gods actually sent a little bit of luck our way. Because of the 4 way tie in the east we had to take part in a coinflip and the worst case scenario was #24 and best case was #21. Too bad we suck at drafting and won't be able to take advantage of it.

I won't be surprised if we decide to trade out of the first round for future draft considerations and a 2nd round pick during this years draft.

Which is literally the worst thing we could do. This team is never going to be able to move forward if they don't start drafting young players and developing them. Unfortunately this isn't even our biggest problem. Our biggest problem is our ability to find talent in the draft.

This should be a unique draft. We might make a blockbuster trade in this draft. Whoever we draft at 21st is a D Leaguer in 2016-17.

I am watching what we do with several players. With a small FA class and a lot of money. We have an advantage. I would not be surprised this off-season. I expect a better off-season then the past 5 years this year.

We've been linked to a couple of workouts with Freshmen PFs.

Could this be a glimpse into the direction the team seeks to go in the near future?
Does it reflect faith in young wings Dennis, THJ (and Bazemore?)
Is it an acknowledgement that AL (or Millsap) will be gone soon?

Stay Tuned.

The list of Forwards we seem interested in continues to increase.

Amazing when you consider we passed on Oubre, RHJ, Justin Anderson and Bobby Portis last summer...

Just connecting the dots a bit...

1. Jaylen Brown is expected to go in the top seven picks of the draft.

2. We set up an interview with him, although he's likely gone well before we pick at 21.

3. Philly has stated their intention to trade one of their top five picks.

4. It's been rumored that Philly has strong interest in trading for DS.

Could we be dangling DS in hopes of moving him for Jaylen?
Would this be a wise approach moving forward?

If the Hawks stay at 21, here is my draft board ranking.

1. Denzel Valentine
2. Timothe Luwawu
3. Skal Labissiere
4. Taurean Prince
5. Jaron Blossomgame
6. Joel Bolomboy

I'm in love with Valentine the same way i was in love with Devin Booker last year. If I had the 10th pick, i would still take Valentine. I hope he falls to 21.

Luwawu and Skal are both projected to be mid to late first round pick, who knows if they will be available at 21 on draft night, but both would be good pick ups and good projects for Budz.

Maryland guard Melo Trimble didn’t have a standout showing at the combine, and remains undecided on whether to stay in the draft...add the Nuggets to the list of teams to meet with Trimble at the combine, and the Spurs and Hawks to the list of teams planning to work him out.

The way the lottery went down, it didn't really open up an avenue for the Hawks to make a trade for a pick high enough to get Jaylen Brown.

But the good news is that the sixers got the #1 and that really forces them to take Simmons, and with Simmons, that could make Okafor or Saric expendable. Maybe this makes an Okafor or Saric trade with the Hawks alittle bit more possible.

Saric is a similar playmaking forward to Simmons that is more seasoned, they very easily could just take Ingram to be a scoring wing that they sorely lack. I see only Noel being on the outs there.

Noel is someone I'd like to go after. Don't know if we'd have the pieces to get him if and when other teams start bidding.

Schröder plus what could net us Noel?

LOL

Mike Scott?
The Minny pick?

We are woefully low on assets to include in trade...

Would Noel fit in here? No jumper, too skinny for dependable post defense. Is he a good passer or high IQ player at least? Is he better than Biyombo? Hassaun? Edy? Bebe?

I figure he'd help in the rebounding department (8.1 rpg in less than 30 mpg). But most of his production does come from his defense (2.8 defensive win shares last season which isn't a lot, but 4.2 his rookie year which is really good. These stats are skewed a bit toward the negative side due to the fact that Philly's been so terrible both years). He averaged 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game this year and 1.8 steals+1.9 blocks his rookie year.

I'll admit that the offense isn't really there yet, and that is a problem, but he's a young player who still has time to develop some post moves and a decent jumper. An influx of youth is what we need is it not? I'm sure he'll also benefit from having veteran players around him.
