Depressed because I did not pass a class in university for the first time. I'm a junior going on to senior year and have done very well in my Honors program so my GPA has been very good but that once class still made it take a hit. Really mad at myself and probably won't let go of it until I re-take it and pass. Now, I am really worried about how this grade/my GPA will affect my chances at a full-time job recruitment now come Fall 2016 (interning right now in finance). My GPA took a **** and fell from a 3.5+ to a 3.47. I was taking 18 credit hours while interning 18-22ish hrs a week at a bulge bracket investment bank in their PWM department.
The class I got **** in is in my field (not a good look). The class grade was only based on three exams: no homework or anything. I did great on the first exam. The second exam was easy, I aced the practice exam when taking it. However I rushed to class on the day of the exam and forgot the **** formula sheet at home. So, you can imagine how that went. If I had that sheet with me, there is no doubt that I would have passed that exam and passed the class because that did me in at the end. The third exam was legitimately the hardest one, even with an information sheet handy. I got screwed because of that second exam **** up where I forgot the formula sheet
How do I rebound from this? Even though I will/have to re-take the class, I can't let it go. Beyond disappointed in myself to say the least.
God damn this entire year has been one giant roller coaster for me personally. And I know that it can only get worse before it gets better.
You just have to brush it off and think about the positive and how this will make you better. We learn more from our mistakes than our successes. My GPA in undergrad was very high, but now that I'm in a doctorate/professional program, I'm happy with getting Cs. I went from having 100 averages in Biology 2 and Physics 2, to getting a 72 in Patho and let's not even talk about Kinetics.
As far as retaking the class, its not a big deal. I had to retake Organic Chem 1 and 2 because I moved out of state and the school I had taken them at previously had a lab section that was its own class that accounted for both OChem 1 and 2. The university in Chicago I attended had the lab integrated into each individual class. So I had to retake both just to get credit for the lab portion! It should go without saying, but Organic Chem sucks big balls. Gigantic hairy, funky balls. So I ended up taking both classes the same semester on an 18 hour workload while working two jobs. My life sucked. Now its not so bad.
Yours will get better too. You've got plenty of time.
