I agree, but we're still going to have the piss taken out of us for a long time. It shouldn't have been this way given how well we've played for most of the season, but it is what it is.

England's inevitable failure in the Euros will take some heat off us at least over here, so I see your point.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't make any difference, no. If you want to go deeper down that existential rabbit hole, sports are not of any real consequence at all and just serve as a distraction from more important things. But since we're on a sports site, I think we've all experienced both sides of the glory and shame associated with being a fan.

Most of my family and extended family are football fans but I'm the only Spurs. Over the years I've had the piss taken out of me ruthlessly because Spurs naturally give them a ton of ammunition. The Arsenal fans are the worst, but generally Spurs are probably one of the 3 or 4 most hated teams in the UK so we get a ton of stick from other fans too, the media (particularly Sky) hate us as well. From people I know it's usually good humoured bantering, but because I'm borderline autistic (asperger's syndrome) I have a difficult time perceiving it correctly and take it personally. In that regard, it's my own oversensitivity at fault, not others.

So basically it just means I'll get a lot of ribbing for a few months. Some people are really good at rolling with that, but I'm honestly not, that's the difference from my perspective. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post at all, that was a bit of a garbled response but I'm a well of emotions right now.

nah all good, i just didnt know teams bantered over 2nd/3rd place this much unless there is something consequential on the line like an european spot. if it wasnt for this thread i would've guessed spurs just cruised last few weeks of the season, playing youngsters and back ups since 2nd or 3rd didnt make a difference for them.

Your a good man. Better than most. If I was in your shoes, I would very likely lose my head. You have much to look forward to at the very least. Spurs should challenge going forward.

I thought this was pretty funny, at least:

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/spurs-carry-out-controlled-implosion-of-season-20160516108847

Following reports of something resembling optimism among supporters, the club dispatched its 11-man hope-disposal squad to lay down on the Newcastle pitch.

Loris Karius to Liverpool. I am sure girls all over UK will be delighted about that. Imagine if they get Götze as well.

"Will Grigg's on fire, your defence is terrified"

Wonder how many PL teams will steal that chant next season.

I really hope Sheffield Wednesday beat Hull in the playoff final.

I know the Liverpool fans here will disagree, but Sheffield Wednesday deserves to be in the PL. Hull is just so pointless. Pointless ground, pointless city, pointless manager.

All of them for certain, and just tweak it a bit. English fans aren't that creative when it comes to chants, once in a blue moon you get something like this.

Brilliant chant, mind.

Don't really agree about Hull, but I'm very fond of Sheffield Wednesday. They're one of the first teams I saw Spurs play at WHL when I was a youngster. Think it was 3-2 on the day. Fond memories. The Andy Sinton derby. Paolo Di Canio.

This is not true. I couldn't enjoy the WC because of the 'slip' and 'Crystanbul.'

Imagine the best player in club history literally slipped on his ass a week after he said don't slip. Nothing has ever been more painful than that.

I literally can be eating cereal on a random day and think about it and feel my throat tighten.

One of the greatest moments in PL history, honestly still laugh about him actually saying it in that huddle
