There's an espn webpage where you can click a button to play the NBA lottery.

I pressed it 10x and the Bulls won the 1st pick with 0.5% odds.

I think I'd have to press it another 100x to get that again. :-(

It's been a while since I took a statistics class, but in that scenario I believe the number of lotto re-tries needed to guarantee a Bulls 1st pick might be different than the linear/logical 1/200 fraction.

I think it's part of the reason as to why there's such an exponential discrepancy between each pick.

If you wondered the probability of Bulls winning the lottery AND getting the SAC pick (meaning 2 teams in the 9-13 range make the top 3), I did the math - it's just under 1/1000

Well if Bulls got lucky and draft Simmons they can then trade him down for Dunn, Hield or Ingram plus another pick/player

That to me would seem like an awful idea

I like Dunn for the simple reason that he can:

1.) Play alongside Rose (at 6'4" and I think a 6'9" wingspan allowing him to play SG) while Butler rest.

2.) Play alongside Butler (his height gives him an advantage against MOST opposing PGs) while Rose rest.

3.) Depending on the matchups....Rose, Dunn and Butler could play together for stretches.

Think out of the box and trade Butler to 76-ers for Noel, 2nd and 4th ;) :D

We should ask for their entire starting lineup and next year's picks while we are at it :D

its probably a misguided and flawed thought, but after the all star break i had this fixation on getting the 12th pick. For my sanity i hope that is not the pick that moves up into the top 3.

So when we miss out on the top pick are we basically set at #14?

The last time we were in this thing something extremely unlikely happened. Here is hoping for another miracle.

I think lottery is going from 14th to 1st. If you dont see Bulls name on first plate of ping pong balls we have top 3 pick.

Our odds of getting the top pick are about 0.8%, but I think our odds of getting a top 3 pick are 1.8%. After that, I'm pretty sure we're basically stuck at 14.

Yes. It's either get extremely lucky and jump into the top 3 or stay where we are at.
