I have been so back and forth on Buddy Hield and whether I'd want him or not and it got me thinking...

How does he compare to Klay Thompson? Not Klay now, but coming into the draft. Klay was also considered a scorer/shooter, but entering the draft (he was picked 11th) there were concerns about how his game would translate to the NBA because of his athletic limitations and surprisingly enough question of his defence. Here's a quote from DX:

While there are some concerns about Thompson's athleticism hurting his offensive game at the next level, the bigger concerns lie on the defensive end, where he is noticeably lacking in lateral quickness and is taken off the dribble often.

I realize Klay is about 2 inches taller than Buddy, but they have about the same wingspan. They were also a bit old heading into the draft and their upside were questioned, even though both have a fantastic work ethic.

I'm kind of falling in love with Buddy again after I started to dismiss him because of his age and being too one-dimensional. Now I think he might have some tools that he can develop in time since he is such a hard worker and since he could be a perfect 3rd or 4th option in the future.

My main problem with Buddy how he's gonna share the court with Zach. Definitely not enough time at SG. Definitely don't want to see Zach at PG. And probably not enough size to play any of them at SF every game.

My answer to this question has always been to get a point forward so you can play both Buddy and Zach off the ball at times. Maybe that can even be Bjelicia...

But, now that we have Thibs, my understanding is his offense is less PG dominant than what Flip and Mitchell ran and I question whether a point forward would even be necessary.

I really see this team picking a versatile player. Murray maybe?...but I got a feeling tibs ultimately wants 1 of Simmons(SF-PF), Ingram(SF-PF-SG?) brown. (SF-SG-PF?) I feel he's looking for that utility player that can do alot of things. For instance Simmons can run your offense, push transition and allow u to play small ball. Ingram is mostly just a SF but in some situations could play other position and as years go on and he gains weight/strength he will be even more versatile. But he can space your floor, bring the ball up and start offense, giving u length on defense from the wing pos. Brown fits well because he can play the SG position which help fill out that hole, he maybe be lacking in shooting but the form is promising, he can bring the ball up, pass, drive, but most of all he can be our Justis Winslow or Stanley Johnson. Those guys these playoffs have showen that teams are willing to use them in a variety of ways specifically on the defensive end. That's a role player all teams wish they had.

Ultimately if this is the rout we go it could means goodbye to Baz. As much potentialas/vertisitly as he has showen he's defensive holds him back. All the prospects I mention have much more to there game.

Given our draft position I'm on the brown train. I just like the idea of a tough wing defender that can rebound, push the ball, and can create for teammates...only issue is shooting. Which is why I'm sure tibs would push hard for a shooting PG for the bench. Just imagine this team having a Winslow or Johnson.

I think that Brown is a better prospect tan Winslow and Johnson. He is a better athlete and he is more talented.
He has many similarities with both of them but he is a better version.
Brown is the third best prospect of this draft. Two way player with high ceiling.

So I feel like the top 4 is settled. Simmons and Ingram will go 1 & 2, in some way, then Celtics take Murray and Bender makes sense for the Suns. Leaves us with Buddy, Brown or Dunn most likely. I could see Thibs liking them all.

would you trade the #5 to LA for Randle? Downside is not much of a defender and shot 43% from the floor. Upside is he averaged a double double last year and people forget that was basically his rookie season. Hit 10 threes and shot 71.5% from the line, so maybe signs of a jumpshot in his future.

Yep and it's probably only a matter of time until they announce Emblid is out for the season again. In that case they would be OK for minutes with a 4-5 rotation of Noel-Saric-Okafor and would probably start Ingram at the 2 with Convington at the 3.
