IMO, if we lose the pick this season, we should be looking to trade our 2017 pick right now.

We could if we managed to get a 2017 1st round pick from somewhere else.

The Stepien rule only prevents teams from trading 1st rounders in consecutive future drafts ONLY if it leaves the team without a 1st rounder.

The Lakers could acquire the 2017 30th pick in an entirely separate deal and still be able to trade away the unprotected 2017 1st rounder
