Pete Caroll also won a Super Bowl and a national title. That's a good coach.

Let's put it this way: the dude was ever present in the playoffs and had a Westbrook/Durant offense shut down multiple times. He single handedly lost the 2012 NBA Finals for being stubborn with starting line ups.
That's flat stupid. Harden disappeared in the finals and without him we didn't stand a chance no matter who started.
Thanks for the bold.
Harden did not play well and that hurt. But it wasn't that what created the loss in the Finals. It's just ESPN's poor narrative to put blame onto Harden. Speaking of Harden, do you remember him assigning Harden to guard LeBron through stretches?

It was being heavily outscored, beat down, pissed and raped in first quarters, with Perkins and Ibaka starting up front (really obvious poor matchup for the Thunder against Bosh and Battier frontcourt, anyone who disagrees simply doesn't have any bussiness calling someone stupid) in games 2, 3 and 5.

What? Who said Carroll isn't a good coach? Carroll is an amazing coach. However, his homeless man's version of the NBA isn't, limited coach with history of playoffs underperformance.
Also, FWIW, Carroll just told the media he intends to play more matchup oriented in 2016. Man I wish Brooks had that kind of humility.

Wait what? Carroll has been a great NFL coach, and his college record too.
Brooks was a great coach here, and had this team defending for 82 games instead of 10.

Point is? That Brooks could afford to make more mistakes and still come out with a high playoff seed?

No, that Brooks actually had the team playing well. Donovan has had a healthy team for the first time in 3 years, makes a big difference doesn't it.

Pretty tough when you have your leading stars scoring 1.10+ ppp on iso and 6 guys on the roster shooting at 60% TS like in 2013...

Helps when your team plays defense.

This is something we'll give to Brooks. Those teams could play very good D. Unfortunately that never translated to titles like the elite ones do.

So if they don't win the title I assume you'll rate Donovan and Brooks the same.

Did we just forget about the injuries to Westbrook, Ibaka, and Durant in consecutive years? After 2012, a year we were never supposed to be in the finals mind you, we still haven't lost a series with a healthy team. Was he supposed to dive in front of Beverley to save Russ's knee?
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Perkins and harden both had positive plus/minuses in 2 out of the five games. Perkins played ~18 minutes per game outside of one game where he played 30+ and had a positive net rating. The stupid narrative is that Scott Brooks somehow could have saved the team from Harden shooting 38% by playing Collision an extra 10 minutes each night.

Re: Scott Brooks
The problem with Brooks is he just flat our refuses to change, he sticks to his methods religiously and is one of the most stubborn coaches in the league. We reached our ceiling with him and we needed to move on to someone who was more willing to be adapt to change and versatility. This is why I didn't get the hate Donovan was receiving during the season, change requires mistakes to be made and lessons to be learned. First off it was the criticism that our defensive scheme had gone backwards under his coaching, he was quoted saying this week he wanted the team to learn how to play defense multiple different ways. Donovan admitted this was probably too confusing earlier this season so he stripped it back and made it more simplified but he still preached flexibility on the defensive end. I feel like this ability to adapt defensively and have guys make different reads on different pick and roll and off ball situations has rattled and thrown off teams recently and such is one of the key reasons we stole the Spurs series and game 1 against Golden State. It was a disaster during most of the season but it's coming together now.
The Quote can be read here https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/732440072306475009
Also the rotation and lineup changes have been on point after much experimentation during the regular season. I honestly don't see us trying a stache brothers lineup or staying big against the Warriors small ball lineup with Brooks(not that I would expect us to get that far under Brooks). All of our playoff runs I have bitched about coaching moves or more appropriately the lack of moves that Brooks has/hasn't done, not so far these playoffs, I think Donovan has been faultless.
It was always going to take a while for a team that had been stubborn and stuck in there ways for so long to change and adapt. I think people hated the fact that it looked like we lost our identity as a team but really we were just making a new one.

His biggest weaknesses imo were Adjustments and offensive sets/inbounding plays

He's not.
OKC won a few games, so it was "bash the old coach" time.
He's a good coach, they all have flaws, and he'll get your team to defend consistently, unlike the one that gave up 120 last night again. Last night wasn't on Donovan, but they've never shown the defensive intensity they always had under Brooks, which I miss.
I like Donovan too but Brooks was a darn good coach who any team is lucky to have.

I don't know if Brooks is the guy to take the Wiz to the Promised Land, but what he will do is get the guys to buy in, get them playing with and for each other, and steady the ship. If Grunfeld was gone I'd be more optimistic, but it is what it is.
Defensively I think the Wiz are probably set up well for his preferred method of play. Offensively it's hard to say, since so much was predicated on KD and Russ.

Offense was still reasonably good without KD and Wall is a solid player to emulate Russ. It's as nice base but I think that team is in such a tenuous position that it's impossible to tell if they'll have success.

Re: Scott Brooks
I feel for Brooks. He got them to the promise land in 2012, then lost Harden & Russ in 2013, lost Ibaka in key games against SAS in 2014, and Durant went down in 2015. Then lost his job. Billy has been great. I don't think Brooks could do what Billy is putting together. Billy has taken this team to another level. Oh an by the way Kd and Russ are only 27.
