Now think a little harder. The fact that Mutombo tweeted 2 hrs before points to the lottery being rigged because his tweet potentially revealed the predetermined (i.e., rigged) result. So if you're a conspiracy theorist, this is proof it was rigged. Got it now?

All those who claim this is proof that the lotto is rigged are paranoid. All those that say it is stupid to entertain the notion that it maybe rigged are naive.

It's not difficult to imagine a scenario where the NBA wants Hinkie out because they see what he's doing as being bad for the league so they make a deal with Philly: Give us control of the team (Colangelos) and the first pick is yours. Dikembe, still with ties in the organization is told this but they say "under no circumstances are you to tell anyone before May 17th. That's the draft lottery day. May 17th comes and he's like "Yeah! I can tell people now!"

It's also not difficult to imagine a scenario where Dikembe googles the lottery results and it simply shows the odds for each team (with Philly obviously at the top) and he mistakes that to mean they won. Then due to a coincidence, the most probable team actually DOES win it.

It's silly to dismiss either of these scenarios.

Again, I am not a conspirator, but the rational would be rebuilding a franchise after the loss of their super-star, or in the 2014 Draft's case, to net a high Draft Pick to assist in the return of LeBron James.

I understand the various rationals, and could see David Stern doing it, but as you stated, Ernst and Young would never risk their reputation, in my opinion.

I understand the various rationals, and could see David Stern doing it, but as you stated, Ernst and Young would never risk their reputation, in my opinion.

That's the key to me. I could see it being rigged back in the day before everything was over-analyzed on social media and it was so easy to blow open a conspiracy story, but it's hard to see it happening today, especially with a firm like Ernst and Young doing it. I just don't see the benefit for them. It's all risk and minimal gain.

The same is true for the NBA. It's so much risk for such dubious gains.

They take all the team representatives in the room and then do the drawing then, they have the televised version later. I sincerely doubt that Mutombo was given the supposed fix ahead of time or something.

I read an article on the Team Steam ap which stated the lottery was complete yesterday and that a representative from every lotto teams knew the results yesterday.

Somehow the honor code keeps the 14 reps quite for the entire day. The representative from each lotto team cannot tell the GM or any coworkers the draft results. I'm fairly surprised that we have not had a draft leak yet. Unless Mutombo was the first.
