Lakers have the second pick now. Just curious to see what kind of offers it'd fetch.

this is easy for me
I posted another thread, But basically #2, Deangelo Russell, Julius Randle, Nick Young for Paul George.

George almost guarantee you top 15 play for the next 5 years, Ingram needs to added 10 pounds of muscle, and Improve his post passing

I want a STAR for that no.2 pick...

I'll only trade that for George or Butler.

If not, then I'm happy to get Ingram.. :)
Lets go Lakers!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Are the Pacers providing the lube at least?

Unless we have a commitment from KD if we trade for George, I can't see the Lakers doing this.

In my opinion, the worst thing the Lakers can do this season is put all of their eggs in one "superstar" basket.

can someone explain what happens to the 2017 pick now? do lakers have any protection?
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

Realgm takes care of all that.

Pick is top 3 protected again next season. Unprotected in 2018.

Added bonus of staying bad one more season - If LAL pick is top 3 in 2017, they get to keep their 2019 pick that they owe to Orlando. If I were a Laker fan, I'd be hoping for patience with a year of DLo and Ingram. Hope keep their pick and then go after the bigger FA period.

(The pick the Lakers owe Orlando has been backed up since Philly pick, so if the Lakers finish out of the top 3 in 2017, their 2019 pick goes to Orlando)

in that case thats an offer we would have to seriously consider. i think we will be in the lotto again next year barring some unforseen fa coup.

I don't think you are getting George for that. You might get Butler if CHicago really wants to rebuild, but I'm not sure.

Here's my reasoning from our board about the Hayward proposal:

Hayward is not a no. 1 guy but he might be the guy to help you get a no. 1 guy in a market like LA. If you are Durant would you sign with a team with Russell, Clarkson, Ingram and Randle as main players? If you get Hayward and one more solid vet you'd have much better chance of luring people in. I think they still will be a hard sell for FAs even without Kobe on the books, until they improve considerably their roster. Stars in the league want competitive teams. They won't go to a 20 wins team. That's a multi-year rebuild project even with Durant signing there. I doubt he will want to lose 2-3 years of his prime trying to rebuild the Lakers.

Also, keep in mind that Westbrook is FA next year. I can totally see a scenario where Hayward + another solid vet in FA can make Durant go to the Lakers with the expectation that Westbrook will come home next season and build the Lakers back to contention within 1 year. Hell, if the Lakers are smart they might be able to get Westbrook right away if Durant is gone in FA(because OKC would be crazy to rely on him to resign if Durant is not there, so it might be better for them to trade him to the Lakers right away for a package centered around Russell so they won't lose him for nothing). Westbrook-Hayward-Durant-Randle-Ezeli/Whiteside/Mihimni/#12 pick(or another vet FA??)... that looks like an instant contender if you ask me.

For the Jazz it makes sense if they decide that they don't have a good chance of keeping Hayward past next year. They get a top level talent at the same position in an attempt to not set back the team too much, while making sure you don't lose Hayward for nothing.

For the Lakers - read above + you get another lottery pick at 12 to add talent to the team.

Am I totally off-base here?

If LA really wants Simmons...

Noel, #1
For
#2, Russell

Steep for LA and perhaps Philly should be adding #24/26 or something....but,

Clarkson
(Derozen/FA)
Simmons
Randle
Noel

Would be a pretty good team sooner rather than later IMO.

But...LAL would have to really prefer Simmons.

I'll lift the voodoo curse I put on LA after the Paul trade if you just take nobody.

So a salary dump and a worse pick?

stitches wrote:Hayward + #12 for #2?

This is worth considering if we have promises from two other free agents but I'd likely want to dump Nick Young as well.

Holy hell, you really have him through 2018. I guess the Jazz can take his contract, we can afford it since we probably won't be big player in FA. They would probably either stretch him or straight up waive him.
