Big difference is the ability to shoot the ball. And FWIW, Ingram is more KD than Melo due to his freakish length and deflection numbers.
Ingram is closer to KD than Simmons is to LBJ.
KD and Melo were both better prospects than Ingram. Simmons is a better prospect than Melo and on a similar level as KD in my opinion. Ingram is clearly outside of that super elite tier of prospects. Simmons is at least close. Ingram is like a more polished Paul George type of prospect. Simmons is bigger, stronger, faster, more skilled, smarter, has better instincts, etc. Ingrams shooting is his only real clear advantage, but he isn't even THAT good of a shooter. You guys will look foolish if you take him over Simmons and we'll all have to deal with the Lakers being a powerhouse again. Don't do it.
Paul George was never this good at this age and Ingram had better skillset than George. Like I said 44% of Ingram's offense comes from guard responsibilities. He's the third best spot up shooter behind Hield and Murray. He has the tools and has shown glimpse to be an elite defender.
