I had that shock moment when I saw him standing next to Dwight in 2013. He is huge.

He was a power forward in the 80s so yeah he's quite tall.

Since we went off topic for a brief moment... Kupchak wasn't just an everyday role player, he was good, really good... Think super role player until he blew up his knee. After a lengthy rehab of minimal playing time he came back and was still a valuable contributor to the Lakers championship run... lord knows how many rings he has between the Bullets, and Lakers in various capacities

I'm a little late to the party but yes, yes and HELL yes!!!

Couldn't be happier!

If the Lakers can't get Durant this offseason I'd prefer we avoid spending top $ on free agents who are only going to help marginally for the long term. I'd rather we fill the gaps with crap in hopes we retain our lottery pick next year and still have lots of $$$ available for next year's FA class. That should put us in a position to attract top free agents.

Hopefully by this point Nance is improved and Russell has elevated his game to star status. Along with a top three pick in next year's deep draft this should be plenty to attract the extra player or two needed to be exciting again.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

I am one of the few (if not the only) on the board to have been a fan when Kupchak was acquired. Back in that day, he was a great addition to what was going to be a great dynasty. Unfortunately, he was injured shortly into his first season with the Lakers. After he retired, West made him the assistant GM and groomed him to be his successor.

This franchise has had some amazing luck every year we have been in the draft lottery.

2016 - #2 pick in a 2-player draft (38.7% chance of getting a top 2 pick)
2015 - #2 pick in a 3-player draft (24.5% chance of getting a top 2 pick)
2014 - Managed to get Randle at #7 with a big dropoff in talent coming after him

Not sure how to do the math, but I'm thinking odds that we would have received a top 2 pick in both the 2015 and 2016 drafts is around 10%.

I'm very happy where we've been positioned to pick in the draft these 3 years. I was one of the few people who was for a straight rebuild and most rebuild scenarios don't get any better than this. Now its time to go to work.

Easy there. 2015 was an incredible deep draft.

I was more referring to the perception going into the draft. Obviously Porzingis and Booker are potential stars, but going into the draft the three elite talents were considered to be Towns, Okafor and Russell.

Rebound...averaged a double double, probably a better passer and due to his more NBA body he'll be a better creator off the dribble. And he'll probably score better in the interior than Ingram.

But let it be known...I like both, I like Simmons a little more but will be more than satisfied with Ingram.

He does basically everything better except shooting and having long arms. Much better ball handler and passer, much better rebounder, better finisher, and noticeably more explosive.

and defense, sort of important given our defensive woes
