About $25,000, for him. 5% of his salary? That's not all that light. Also, I'm betting Jose just leaves it alone. The Jays aren't known for throwing at dudes either. There is no need for this nonsense to continue.

You're talking about very little money, especially when he'll be signing for close to $100M.

I doubt anything further happens , but the reality is the punishment is garbage so could be worth it + it's amazing entertainment!

Well, no suspension for Donaldson, so that worked out well.

I find Odor's suspension to be very light. To put it into perspective, Gibbons got 3 games because he walked onto a baseball field. Odor gets 8 for shoving, throwing two punches at Bautista, then throwing another punch at Donaldson. So three punches at two separate guys. I wanted 12-16 games because it would deter such behavior by penalizing harshly, and yet guys like Bannister and Bush, who ordered the intentional hit, will get nothing. Chavez is gonna get three games for his hit, maybe (Sanchez did last year for an unintentional HBP, which is what I'm basing it off). Just back-asswards to me.

I get Rougned's a kid still, but as pointed out by many, it's not his first rodeo trying to beat up an entire team with one fist and he's committed dirtier slides himself.

Gibbons got three because he's a repeat offender coming out of the locker room after having been tossed.

One theory being strongly floated among those close to the Rangers organization was that they waited until the end of the games against Toronto so that Bautista had to go up to the plate every time wondering if this would be the time he got hit.

I don't know that that is true, but its a very logical and strategic reason. I know many of you will disagree of course, but I highly doubt the reason was because they were scared of further retribution. We've been involved in a fair number of dust ups and our manager is highly confrontational--see the brawl with the Astros last year.

Anyway food for thought.

But the Rangers said it wasn't intentional!

Jose was pretty good in Arlington too.

I'm confused here. I didn't realize anyone put any stock in Bannister's little tale about it being his 2nd game in the bigs blah blah blah.
Obviously he can't come out and say yeah we were throwing at the guy because then he gets suspended along with with Bush.

Both managers were playing the game with their post-game comments.

My point is to laugh at that ridiculous statement that the league seems to have to accept, despite the fact it was complete bull. Although, they still fined him for intentionally throwing at Bautista, so I guess they didn't accept it. but they still didn't suspend him, which is weird. I mean, you're apparently allowed to throw at someone intentionally and avoid a suspension, as long as you weren't warned not to do that previously? That's the precedent? That's a bad precedent.

Anyway, looks like ol Rougned is gonna have to punch some more fools:

yeah methinks the Rangers need to be prepared for a lot of this. And frankly we deserve it. I doubt other teams used to love all our stupid claw and antler nonsense we did all the time either.

fwiw I had no problem with the bat flip. You don't like it--get him out next time.

I doubt teams are going to be doing stuff like this specifically to the Rangers to taunt them or whatever. It'll just be interesting to see how they react and if they realize how dumb it is to worry about that crap.

I doubt many of them actually cared about the bat flip either. I feel like the Bautista stuff was more a sop to Dyson maybe, who seemed to unravel over it, and the fans.

Anyone else remember that Donaldson tag and weird scrum from a few weeks ago (heroes 13 and 14)? I wondered what was going on at the time, but the game went right to commercial and no one seemed to address it. I completely forgot Odor was the idiot getting mad at a routine tag.
