after borrego, i've become a bit leery of long-time assistants with "leadership studies" degrees. it's kinda like reading the resume of a guy who has a stack of fancy i.t. certifications but has spent several years only working junior level positions. seems "off".

I think JV would be a better person to mention here. Borrego had barely any time as a head coach, and it came at an awkward time. Hard to judge him properly.

I like Adrian Griffin and wouldn't mind him as our coach if we cannot land Vogel. My ideal scenario would be for us to land Vogel and keep Adrian Griffin on the coaching staff. I feel he would fit in with Vogel just fine IMO.

I, too, have little regard for resume builders. I want a coach that sees basketball as a tactical endeavor. I want a coach that is capable of seeing a player's strengths and weaknesses. I want a system that attempts to maximize the talents of every player on the roster while developing each player's ability to make quick and accurate decisions routinely. I want a system that emphasizes team accomplishments as opposed to individual accomplishments. I don't want a team where players gripe about their roles, but rather one where every player understands that they are a cog in the unit. I don't want a coach that gets pissed off after a loss. I want a coach that analyzes what went wrong and adapts their approach to address whatever that problem was. I don't want a coach that gripes about effort, but rather one that demonstrates professionalism and purpose to the cause.
