D'Antoni has proven he can't coach ball dominant players like Harden when he failed in NY and LA with Melo and Kobe. It's impossible for the Rockets to make the roster D'Antoni would need to be successful with Harden still on the roster.

Harden would be a great fit with D'Antoni actually, much better pick and roll player and a more willing passer than either Kobe or Melo. There's different ways to be dominant. Nash was ball dominant. Cp3 is ball dominant. Harden would be the Nash if D'Antoni came to Houston and I think he would be really good at it. He already is an elite pick and roll guard. The problem is that the offense is already good. The defense needs to be fixed first not the offense.

It's a bit early in the day to be drinking mate....

Not saying he would be as good as Nash. He would play the same role as the PnR guard making plays for others. Thought that was obvious Harden is a VERY good passer and PnR player.

Nash do more than just running pick and roll
he is also a good screener
he may not be elite defender but he actually play defense
he does stay in front of his guy and draw charge

I always have a hard time believing local reporters and internet "insiders" because the Rockets really seem to run a tight ship.

The only times that leaks prove to be true I always assume the info was intentionally leaked for some reason.

I trust mark Berman though. Guessing the second interview was first reported by ESPN so I can see why it was inaccurate, at least I hope so

Berman & Feignen are good, but I get the feeling with them that they report what the team wants them to put out there. I'm not accusing them of being stooges for the franchise, but I don't think that people in the Rockets front office are too loose with the lips and the info going out will be controlled.

Yeah it was reported to Stein probably by Calvin Watkins, as he's ESPN's guy in Houston. But I trust Berman and Feigen, who have been around the team much longer and have great track records with this kind of thing more than Watkins

Nash was a pretty bad defender lol and I know he could score. That's not what I'm saying. His primary role under D'Antoni was a PnR ball handler. That's what Harden would and can do to similar effect except more scoring vs insane passes to guys no one knew where there like Nash

there is a difference between playing bad defense and playing no defense
Nash - not good at defense but he play defense, he is actually good drawing charge
Harden - take time off and do not play defense, play average defense when he feel like playing

Well according to Feigen D'Antoni is the frontrunner, but there is no scheduled interview. God damn it Les.

Well one just isn't scheduled. Probably still going to happen is he's one of the frontrunners. At least we will be fun and score a lot I guess.

Woj reported JVG is no longer a candidate despites JVG's interest. I hate Les right now.

I love JVG but I kinda don't think he's right for the job so long as he continues with the same offense. Such a outdated offense. But **** no to Pringles what a trash hiring. Only one truly great season and the rest of his career was average to wretched. I am truly sad right now just...

I don't think D'Antoni would be bad, his defensive problems are overstated because no one accounted for pace when he was with the sun's and the Lakers and Knick were terrible fits anyways. I just don't think he's right for this job.

It would also guarantee Dwight opts out which I'm all for

Dwights already opting out and rather stick with Dwight for one year over Pringles for 3-4 years

If he can't get a good deal anywhere else he might sit on his $20+ this season, very unlikely, but still

good
i don't like him long ago
he is not a man of his word
keep saying he is willing to spend to win
what we keep seeing is he is cutting little cost from here and there to avoid luxury tax
what he actually mean is willing to spend to sign big name star to increased ticket price

D'Antoni isn't bad candidate if he can hire good defensive assistant
whether he can get the team to actually play team defense is different discussion

I'm just sick with these reports.

Is D'Antoni the guy who can put Harden in check? Can he fix the defensive issues?
