Who is Philly going to move?

Post#1 » by BadMofoPimp » Thu May 19, 2016 12:29 pm

Well, if Philly Drafts Simmons, then the Sixers may need to keep Okafor because they can't have (3) starting front court players who can't shoot the ball well. Thus, I think they trade Embiid or Noel. Especially, if Simmons plays SF. Then, they would have to rely on their back court to stretch the floor and they currently don't have anyone in the back court who can shoot 3's. Would still be a horrible team.

I think Henny should come out strong trying to trade Fournier for Noel. Most likely, Philly asks for Dipo but I feel Dipo is worth much more than Noel or Embiid straight up. But, they would make for a nice trading partner with their plethora of bigs. Ideas?

Not a bad plan... thought along the same lines as well! If Fournier could nab us one of those two (especially Embiid which i kinda doubt).... i'm in. Helps one of our problems and settles up our back court rotation as well.

My guess would be Noel. He is what he is at this point and I think everyone can agree on his value. Embiid and Saric are question marks still and I'm guessing they'd be unlikely to get full value for them. Esp Embiid, he's going nowhere for a while. I like Noel somewhat, but his offensive game is complete trash, but I do like the Evan for Noel trade you suggested.

Noel and Vuc would be interesting. One guy to dominate on each end. Then AG to guard the wing guy. Our offense would need some help though unless AG improves dramatically over the summer (possible).

Let's trade Tobias Harris for Noel.

If we can S&T Fournier for Noel we should do it and not look back. I don't see the need for Philly to make a big trade unless they really think Embiid is going to be healthy, but we'll see.

This is why you don't trade Tobias Harris for cap space.

If they draft Simmons, why would they have been interested in Tobias?

I think Philly waits to see how Embiid looks before moving anyone.

We can't just trade Fournier as he is a RFA. He would have to agree to sign there which if he did not sure Philly is going to want to give up much, Sign and trade deals don't usually get much in return. I do agree that Philly has a glut of big men. I think they could look to trade anyone of those guys depending on what they would get. Heck they could even trade down from 1 or just take Brandon Ingram at 1. I could see them trading anyone of those guys. It all depends on the offer and what if any moves are expected or have happened. Embid is tough to trade as the medical issue is huge there. He still hasn't played a game yet and is a question mark. If doctors feel he will be able to play and that the injury hasn't robbed him of his athletic ability then I am not sure if Philly would want to trade him. He is still on his rookie deal and if the potential is there he could best center option for not just them but maybe even for a lot of teams. If there isn't much hope that he will get to play or there is significant concern about re injuring it or it robbing him of his athleticism then I wouldn't want him. We shall see but yeah it is something we should investigate.

I have friends in Philly. We had a long talk over beers recently I can't describe how high they were on Mario. They were fine giving us any one (just one... but any of Noel, Okafor, Embiid, Saric) of their bigs for Mario straight up.

These are just 3 fans talking but they are devout, born and raised 76er fans. So while I don't read too much into it, I was surprised at how little interest they had in Evan or Dipo and how much they would give up for Mario.

I really don't think Noel, Okafor, Saric or Embiid have a ceiling higher than Mario, but that is just me. They are all good but I haven't seen anything ground breaking from anyone on the Sixers thus far.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't trade Mario for any of them straight up.

Stauskas is a floor spacer with his shooting ability, no?

Phily should not make any moves with Noel until they know what they have with Embid. Firstly if he is healthy. Then they can get to the part if he can actually play. He left school as a freshman and prior to that wasn't playing competitive ball that long. Hes still very much a project. Moving Noel without doing this would be foolish since Okafor is not know for his defense.

You need more than one shooter to spread the floor. Stauskas shot 32.6% from the (3) this past season. So, I wouldn't count him as exactly a shooter. Heck, he shot 38.5% from the floor as well.

Ah, I just know he had the reputation as a shooter coming out of the draft, never looked at his actual stats. But yeah, that was just in response to the statement of yours that said they had no back court shooters. I meant to legitimately have that come off as a question, not a snarky OH HO HO kinda rhetorical question.

I'd definitely take Noel if Fournier was willing to go there and that's all it took. He looks to be a good interior defender who can get steals, and seems to have shown some minor progress in his offensive game. I think he'll be a defensive force as he continues to fill out.
