Well I don't think there is a debate. I don't think there is much debate in the Sixers front office either or whichever team had the number one pick. Whichever team got the number one pick were going to draft Simmons. And I do think it's just the media pumping up this debate. It's like pumping up a decent fighter against a great boxer knowing that fighter has no chance to beat the champ. It's just drawing up interest and making fans think there is chance the champ could lose. And no I don't think Coach K pumping up Ingram will sway anyone on the Sixers. BC has already been drooling over Simmons in interviews. This debate is not close. It's an easy decision. Very easy. I do like Ingram a lot but it's not even close for me. Thankfully the Sixers will make the right choice and draft Simmons.

Wrong on many accounts

Nope. Not close. And the Sixers will draft Simmons. I can guarantee that. Do you disagree that the Sixers will draft Simmons? I dare you to say you disagree.

Nah he is absolutely right, BC and BB were gushing over Simmons in the media. They didn't outright say it but you can just tell that Simmons is their guy. Unless Simmons pulls a Kobe and try to force his way to the Lakers, he is going to be drafted by us when the time comes.

He says I'm wrong on so many accounts. I want to know if he disagrees that Simmons gets drafted by Sixers. I think even most Ingram supporters think it's unlikely Ingram gets drafted by Sixers. Some are going to continue to fight that losing battle though. Come June 23 all that talk will finally end.

Ingram will be the better pro. Hands down. Sure Simmons will give you some ESPN top 10 highlights just like Blake Griffin, but I want to win championships and I'm sure the Sixers do too

To those asking why you need to have a perimeter game to be a primary ball handler. And why Simmons would need to shift to playing PF if he doesn't improve his jumper.

Hey folks, lets post something more substantive than 'i double-dog-dare-you,' please.

Either argue your point with observations and numbers, or even 'gut feelings.' But remember this is the draft, GM's paid to do what we dream of on here get it wrong all the time (as do scouts and forum draft experts). So let's post on the future careers of these kids with a bit more humility and respect for each other.

Thanks.

Dei on the radio yesterday made a good point. She said that the Sixers will need to tip their hand soon and start selling Philly on the guy they are going to pick. They will want to give the city a chance to get behind a player well before draft day.

So I think these debates will last maybe a week or two... and then we will know who it is going to be and the debate will shift to the next step.

Simmons when asked about his jumper. He sounds like a pretty cocky dude. I love it. :)

Agreed, some folks might not like that ego, but I also absolute love it. The attitude that nobody can check you is one of the important ingredient to drive a player to be the best ie Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Iverson, Shaq etc. Humble superstar like Duncan is far and few between.

Regarding his shooting, it is definitely a concern but it isn't a deal breaker for me. Just look at Lebron's and Kawhi's shooting performance during their rookie season. It is absolutely dreadful outside of 3ft. Lebron is Simmon's mentor so he is going to give Simmons the necessary advice on how to improve his jumper. Also, BB is the guy that help developed Kawhi's jumper, and that is a big plus for Simmon's shooting development. Lastly, Simmon's shooting mechanic is not broken, and his overall FT is 70%. This is a good sign that he can develop a jumper in the future.

And Simmons will get us that championship. Like I said. I really like Ingram. I just don't think it's close and Simmons is easily the better prospect. I just can't believe this is really a serious debate. Simmons is the future. You can have a 6'9 point forward facilitating. His shot will get better. He is a positionless player. He can easily switch onto a player playing against small ball or guard a PF down low. He will never be on a mismatch where he looks out of place. You don't tank for Ingram. You tank for Simmons.

I really doubt that happens. The NBA will not want that anymore than the NFL did. They had a charade that they didn't know Goff was going #1. The Rams sat on the clock for the entire time. They want interest and excitement. No way they allow the 76ers to announce the pick weeks in advance.

Simmons is definitely unique in certain areas of his game, but having an opportunity to take a guy who will be one of great scorers/shooters of his time(Ingram) who also happens to play a position where the Sixers are curently lacking, needs to be taken advantage of.

No one ever holds a press conference or anything but usually 1-2 weeks in it's a foregone conclusion who's going 1. In the last 10 years we've only had 2 question marks about who goes first (always involving us). Embiid and Noel dropped due to injury.

It's really simple.

X + Y = Superstar Wing

X = Intangibles (big time 2 way contributor)
Y = Great shooting

Both players already have X
Simmons has all around game + steals + rebounds
Ingram has freakish length/athleticism/skillset combo on offense + steals + blocks

Question really is who's more likely to be a great shooter.

THE UTMOST EVOLUTION OF A PLAYER IS IT'S SHOOTING. EVEN CENTERS EVOLVED INTO SHOOTERS. EVEN LBJ EVOLVED INTO A SHOOTER. EVEN RONDO IS FORCED TO LEARN HOW TO SHOOT.

And I do consider the possibility of Simmons improving his shot. But I think Ingram can be the better shooter between the two. I also think Ingram can be a good finisher around the rim with his freakish length and athleticism (if 40" vert in duke is true).

Really, the determining factor between those two is the shooting.

You go watch the NBA play-offs and it's nothing but a shooting contest (inside draw kickout) and rotation defense on the other end.
