If Suns can get Butler and Cousins OR Marc Gasol paired with Bledsoe..... That can be a really great off season lol

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
I'd rather have Bender than do a trade for Okafor. I just don't see how he fits in the modern NBA (at least, based on his rookie season). Defensively inept centers are probably the biggest negative impact type of players. If he came here at PF we'd need either need Len to develop a 3 or trade Tyson/Len for a center who can stretch it (Meyers Leonard?), which is a tougher commodity to find than a stretch 4. So yeah, it's already been mentioned but it'd just be harder to build a team with Okafor. But hey, maybe he works on his 3 ball and proves everyone wrong.

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
If you have 2 or 3 shooters in the lineup and a dominant inside scorer... How is that NOT suitable for the modern game.
You cant double the dominant inside scorer.. So he either scores or gets fouled... And if he does get double... Just set plays to make him kick out to open men.
Hack big men with no defense and who cant score inside unless its a dunk lob are the ones that are useless... Today.

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
I think shooting is vastly over rated today.. Because of the warriors style.
Its like that thread in the general forums a couple of months back asking if PRIME Shaq would be dominant today... Because he didnt have a mid range or a 3pt shot...
Are you friggin kidding me?
I want my center dunking on anyone when he can and scoring down low as a go to man down the crunch time...
Duncan and the spurs of the mid 2000 has proven how good a go to guy is inside when the game is close.... Rather that than contested 3pt shot or a 20 footer.
Its sickenning that every player on the court is expected to be a shooter... No... Completely disagree with that.
If anything a dominant inside scorer surrounded by a slasher and a few shooters would be ideal... You have options rather than hope your 3pt shot is on.

Okafor is a bit of a dinosaur and his defensive troubles may limit his ceiling, but he's still very young, so I think he'd be worth a shot. Of course, you'd HAVE to pair him with a stretch 4 who can also play defense, and there are very, very few of those in the league.

Okafor is probably most like Al Jefferson.
That was his draft comparison and definitely valid.
But to me Okafor looks bigger and more physically robust than Jefferson. Jefferson is a very good player so I dont see the issue of trying to go for him...
Its not like the suns can obtain a two way dominant big man with pick 4... So a player like Okafor who can score 20 grab 10 rebounds sounds like great value for a pick 4.
And suns need inside scoring big time.
Hey, I'd trade 4 for Okafor if Bender isn't there. But I wouldn't want to play him at PF. He needs to play center. But he can't really provide rim protection or has any range so then you have to have a shot blocking stretch 4, of which there are only a handful in the league, so they are really hard to come by. MAYBE if someone like Chriss completely panned out, it would work. But I haven't watched him enough at the pro level to really judge his weaknesses...it's just what I read, so maybe he can become a good defender, shot blocker and improve his range.
Then we'd have to trade Len. I'd like to give Len a little more time with a pg that actually sets him up well.
yeah this is pretty much exactly how I feel

Now I hadn't heard that one. That would be a nice trade. I've seen people put up "Knight for Favors" as if Utah would consider that, but Knight for Lyles would be nice. We'd need to take a lot of filler salary back though. I don't even know if Utah would do that though...Lyles may actually have more trade value.

If we want to trade Knight, the Pelicans would be a good destination for him IMO.
1. NOP GM has a "young vets" policy, where he wants to build their team around players who are 25 or younger and still have a few years left on their contracts.
2. The Pelicans have only Jrue and Tyreke in the backcourt, both on expiring contracts.
3. Demps hates draft picks. He was hired in 2010 and traded their 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 1st round picks.
#6 is probably too much for Knight but you never know. They traded #6 and a future 1st for Jrue after all.

Whatever we do we have to get this guy in NEXT YEAR'S draft.
Harry Giles is the stud 4 we need. This kid is going to be a monster. Giles and Len together I feel confident about if we don't land Marquese Chriss (who has potential) at the 4 this year with the 13th pick

Another destination for knight or maybe Bledsoe is Sacramento. They are in win now mode and need a pg. I'd do knight and 28 for the 8th pick in a heart beat. Not sure if the kings would. I do think the kings would move 8 for Bledsoe (especially considering his ties to cousins) but I'm not sure the suns would.
If the suns had the 8th pick then they could take whatever guard they like best at 4 and at 8 they could either take brown if he fell or their pick of that next tier of pfs and still have 13 to take the best sf or pf left at that point.

I want us to do whatever is possible to have 2 Top 10 picks in next years draft. The talent coming in next year is ridiculous. Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith Jr, and Markelle Fultz would all easily be picked before the options at #3 this year. Kentucky and Duke are going to account for like 7 of the top 10 picks next year lol.

I dare say that Chriss looks faster and even more athletic then Amare.

Don't be crazy, pre-injury Amare would eat his lunch and I'm a big fan of Chriss's

Memphis is gonna lose their only good guard. Knight needs a new home. Jamychal Green would look good in a Suns uni..

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
This is the offer I would give for Butler: 4th pick, 28th pick, and Knight. I would consider adding Goodwin or maybe the rights to Bogdanovich. I absolutely would not give up Len or Warren. The reason why is because the Suns are nowhere near a contender. They are not even close. If they give up a massive package for Butler (who is not Lebron or Durant), they will have nothing left and the team will still suck. And you cannot bank on the Suns being able to sign better free agents just because of Butler's presence on the roster.
Then think about this. Knight averages 20 ppg, 5 ast, and 4 rbs. He shoots 42% fg and 34% 3 pts. Butler averages 21 ppg, 5 ast, and 5 rbs. He shoots 45% fg and 31% 3 pts. Their per game stats are nearly identical. Knight is also over two years younger. So the Suns are giving the Bulls an immediate replacement for Butler. Most other teams cannot do that. So they get their replacement for Butler who is 24 and the fourth pick in the draft, plus another first round pick.
Now the package can be flexible such as if they do not want the 28th pick, maybe you offer the 2018 top-7 protected Miami pick or something. However, I do not offer them some kind of insane package like picks 4 and 13, Knight, Len, and Goodwin or Warren. That is nuts.

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
^I would hit it. I'd add in Archie rather than Bogdan just because I think Bogdan would drill threes in his sleep and help spread the floor, plus Archie is due for an extension this upcoming season and we obviously aren't going to offer him one. The problem then becomes who is going to play PF for us. I'd like to draft Deyonta Davis at 13 and have him as our backup for a couple years and then possibly resign MT3. Still would like an upgrade though and I really just don't want Horford but I'll take him if he was willing to sign with us I guess.

You forgot to add in that Knight is a defensive juggernaut just like Butler and a 2X All-star like Butler.......
Look, Knight averaged what he did as a PG (aka ball in his hands whenever he wanted it) on a horrible team (4th worst). Butler did it as a 3rd option BEHIND Rose and Gasol. Look at the usage ratings. Knight was our top guy and Butler was below both Rose and Gasol. He also did it on a Bulls team that BARELY missed the playoffs. So Calling Knight a "immediate replacement" is laughable.
Now i agree with you on not offering #4/#13/Knight/Len/Goodwin or Warren, but if the #13 pick was removed and we kept Warren, i would take it.
As for being nowhere near a contender, it all has to start somewhere. Having Bledsoe/Booker/Butler all locked in for the next 4 years is a damn good start to being a contender. Trading a unknown player (#4), a spare PG (Knight) and a young big with potential that he has yet to realize (Len) for a young 2X All-star and 2X All NBA Defensive Team member is a no brainer for me.
