It will be Murray if Bender isn't there, and maybe if he still is there. McDonough believes we need more Kentucky guards.

But with what I know now and keeping the pick, it would have to be Murray.

I know the poll in our draft thread favors Hield over Murray, but I suspected with Bender gone, that the results would flip to Murray, and it is obviously because of people liking young guys with more potential upside.

Interesting to see with Boston though, that even though over 60% chose Bender, that Murray still edged out Hield.

I also see at the end Philly fans voted evenly with 47 votes each for Simmons and Ingram, though I guess Ingram was ahead when it closed. Also interesting to see the only other person with votes, and 2 of them, was Chriss.

And with the Lakers, all but two votes, but those two go to Davis? That was either a joke, or you have Davis/Chriss family members at those forums....or actually more likely fans from other teams doing that.

I wonder if fans from the Lakers swayed the Philly vote....though probably not much since I didn't even know this mock draft was occurring.

Ingram is the better fit for either team in any case....and Boston, us and most of the lotto teams..other than maybe Sacramento.

I mentioned this in another thread, but not a fan of taking Chriss in the lottery. I've seen him up close. Has Potential but is a project. Not a top 20 pick most years.

He is a tweener cut out of the same mold of TJones, Marvin WIlliams and Queef. I know some were only joking, but anybody expecting him to be the lovechild of prime STAT and Ibaka will be sorely disappointed. He has go go gadget hops and decent midrange J for a kid who is new to the game but thats about it

He's not a combo guard by any stretch of the imagination as of now, doesn't possess the handle, first step or court vision to even run a second unit in the NBA. He is basically a smaller more unathletic OJ Mayo with a working brain and off the ball craftiness and projects to be a knockdown spot up shooter who can finish with his off hand who does little else. I was low on Booker and gladly disproven, but he didn't have the opportunity to showcase his off the bounce abilities to put the ball on the deck.Murray will grade out worse in lateral agility drills and may be unable to stay in front of his man. Murray was handed the reigns to run the point by Coach Cal and the results were abysmal, an assist to turnover ratio that didn't even break even. He was decent as a playmaker for Canada in the Pan Am games but those were basically friendly scrimmages.

Yup. I follow Washington basketball. STAT was a freak. Chriss could be a solid role player but he doesn't have star potential.

We can laugh at McD's love for Kentucky guards but Murray is BPA in this pool.

Where is Wade Baldwin in this poll?
It would be between him and Luwawu for me.

Jamal Murray in a walk. Thanks for playing, and good luck in the draft!
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Chriss

Seriously.

Then I'm hoping Skal is still on the board when you come back @ #13.

As much as Im not a fan of taking Murray, I have opened up to the idea of it. Hes clearly the most talented person left on the board, (if Bender, Simmons and Ingram are gone,), and probably has the most potential. Shooting is always valuable in the NBA and McD has always said he will go BPA.

If we take Murray, I hope we can flip one of Knight/Bled. Murray and Booker in the backcourt would be great.

Check his past mocks. You have to give him credit for developing an independent perspective, but Fischella isn't exactly reflective.

I agree with Fischella, wouldn't touch Murray in the top 5

Dunn #3. We get Bender. No chance we pass on him. I would prefer Hield and don't care much for Murray.

My intuition says this is how things will play out as well. Boston drafts Dunn or trades the pick. We end up taking Bender. Not a fan of this but it is what it is. Bender is 1 to 2 years away from making an impact according to most scouts. Still a project. Not physically ready. Are people really on board with that? I guess that improves our chances of having another top 5 pick next year.

I can't speak for others, but YES. I've said repeatedly it's time to stop going for short term fixes and build steadily and deliberately through the draft. Even if that means another miserable season. I don't care about McDonough's contract but building a team with an eye on the next 2 years is why we've been mired in mediocrity. Draft Bender, draft Skal too if you want. Start Warren. Start Booker. Start Len. Move one of Knight / Bledsoe, I don't even care which anymore because I doubt either of those PGs are going to be running our team when it's time to make a legit move into the upper tier of playoff teams, which should be our goal. I think management vastly underestimates how much fans will support a young, fun, interesting team even if they are bad. Give us guys to root for that are young but clearly talented and we won't care if they are losing every night.
