43.9%, actually. Care to guess what Simmons is shooting in that same spot? 43%...

33% actually and with low volume.

You're likely looking at a shot chart from December. This is from the recent Ingram SI piece:

Interestingly, Ingram is not that much better than Simmons as far as mid-range is concerned.

Yes, he still a much better mid range shooter aside from that tied 42% mid range spot.

Unguardable at the upper left side. You sag off, he'll shoot 53% from that 3. stay close and you risk shooting 42% mid range and 60% at the rim. On top of that he's got 9'2" reach and has the skillset to drive into the paint.

Lakers fans are divided. They are debating it right now on their board, and while the majority there want Simmons as well, many want Ingram.

what if Ingram's shot doesn't translate? Russell for example took awhile, that started the bust talk.

Now imagine that here while Simmons is putting up $tat$ in LA.

That is my biggest fear.

This debate is moot. We are taking

BEN SIMMONS

Once he improves his jump shot the guy is a legit superstar with top 3 in the NBA potential. Besides shooting (yet), there's nothing else he can't do on the court.

They have the second pick. Some are just trying to talk their way into preferring Ingram over Simmons. If they had the top pick there would be no debate. Just about everyone would be all in on Simmons. Charlotte let Kobe go to the Lakers and some fans just want the Sixers to do the same thing for Simmons. Sad. Embarrassing.

Simmons 33% on mid-range jumpers this season, Ingram 37.6%. Anyway, I'm also done. You only see what you want to see.

44% of BS shots are 2pt Js at 33FG%, that ain't bad.
40% of Ingram's shots are 3pt at 41FG%

Anyone has Simmon's HS senior stat vs LeBron's? (or scouting report)

FWIW.

How can you watch this youtube and still think this kid is not special.

He protect the rim, run the break, shoot at halfcourt, post up, can attack off the dribble at halfcourt or at transition. He's just 18. There's no doubt in my mind that he can translate his game in the NBA.

Nobody can match-up with his size except for KD. He's impossible to defend at the left side of the floor. Shoots 53% from 3s, 42% from 2s and can dunk over people with his 9'2" reach and 40" vertical.

If you discount the first month of his college season, which seems like a transition month, he shot 43% from 3s.

How good is another matter, a variable that often hinges on who he plays for and who is around him. His growth overall as a shooter will be the single biggest indicator of how special he becomes.

13 ft minus 9'2" reach. That's more than 40" actually.

As I said, context is key... This is an absolutely pro Simmons article that was posted on our board a couple of days ago, that says he could also be a DPOY... Yet you take one snippet out of the article to validate your argument about his shooting...

..which I acknowledged in my earlier post than that.

I was more pointing out on Thorpe's opinion that how special Simmons will be depends on his shooting. Which I think should be the biggest determining factor, since it's the trait that holds the highest value on offense. While we know both guys aren't slouches on defense.

It's something that gets overlooked IMO, with all the potential DPOY talk in the article.
