Vogel's influence on luring Free Agents to Orlando?

Post#1 » by orthoman » Sun May 22, 2016 1:32 pm

I wanted to get everyone's thoughts about what impact Vogel will be on luring a star FA to Orlando?

In the past, coach's have been influential in luring players from their former teams.

I realize this is a far-fetched idea, but is there any chance Vogel can influence a Paul George trade to Orlando?

George and Vogel are very close.

Thoughts?

I was also wondering his influence on PG3. Seems he broke out under Frank so maybe he really praises him?

It was another one of the main reasons why I am so excited to have him here. Vogel is a players coach and will surely draw more FA in then Skiles could have. Who knows what would have happened with the Millsap situation if Vogel was here. Could it change with Al Horford? ;)

I'm afraid of signing Horford so I hope it won't be the case.

I think Orlando needs to send Vogel, Rob Hennigan, and Evan Fornier to recruit Batum. He and Fornier play on the French National team together and Vogel can talk about how he helped to elevate Paul George's game and how he can do the same for him.

Then Rob and Vogel need to go see Bizmack Biyombo and sell him on coming to Orlando. Again Vogel can talk to him about how he help to elevate Hibbert's game and how he can do the same for him.

Payton, Watson, Payton II, Napier
Oladipo, Hazonja, Fornier
Batum, Fornier, Hazonja, Gordon
Gordon, (Davis or Chriss), AN
Vuc, Biyombo, Smith

Why? He would be a perfect fit for us. An all-star 30yo C right in his prime that brings tons of playoff experience and is another veteran voice in the locker room. He would do great under Vogel and with this group.

Wont be easy. He will be one of the most coveted FA out there.

I don't like him as a C. Here's another idea though.

Sign Whiteside and Horford (two-three years max and only with rim protector), re-sign Fournier, trade Oladipo, Vuc and a pick for George and Hill. Go with following rotation:

Hill / Payton
Fournier / Hezonja
George / AG
Horford / AG
Whiteside

Killer.

Rob Hennigan needs to make a splash, so guys like Batum, Mahinmi, and Bizmack (I'm sorry that's the coolest first name EVER!!) probably won't get the fan base revved up. He'll look at Durant, Horford, and Parsons first, maybe Whiteside first. I'm ok with signing Bizmack or Batum but let's keep some space for a star that may become available.

This summer became a whole lot more interesting than it could have been with Skiles. But would Whiteside really sign here? We are younger than Miami as they are at the tail end of their contention I think (unless they really retool and sign big names, who knows) but would he leave Miami for Orlando?

Fans need to be real Durant isn't going anywhere and he is not coming to Orlando. Batum and Biambo will have more of an impact with a young team like this Harford and Parsons.

He is? Not really a rim protector that we need, fails to show up in the playoffs.

Anyone with Vision. Wade's not going to have another season like he did last year. Whiteside wont be the same player once he gets his paycheck. Joe Johnson's old jo Johnson. Bosh is sadly going to have to retire. Their rookie Winslow has over rated potential. Their best player now is Dragic and future player is Richardson, who I believe both play the same position. And last but not least....
