I don't think this is true, and it's a little un-nerving to see typed. I'd like to think that the Nazis could've worn whatever uniforms they wanted, and we'd still think of them exactly the way we already do.
If German soldiers(Nazis) came over and fought for America against the Nazis and Japanese, we'd root for them.
If Warriors players came over to the Bulls and played for the Bulls against the Warriors and Cavs, we'd root for them.
When Dennis Rodman came over to the Bulls and played for the Bulls against the Magic and Pistons, we rooted for him.
If Lebron came over to the Bulls and played for the Bulls against the Cavs and Heat, we'd root for him.
Soldiers, especially Nazis, are not the same thing as basketball players. To root for the Nazis is to root for genocide, so no, I doubt we'd ever root for them.
