When you wish upon a star...
What are some names that you think will ultimately end up on the trade block? The reason I ask is because the market looks to be a little dry in terms of these type of franchise altering players both via trade and FA. I'm bracing myself for an underwhelming off season but then again my expectations are high. The only names that I can think of are Blake and Ibaka. I don't think the Bulls are moving Butler and Cousins isn't going anywhere until the all star break at the earliest. With the Cavs playing as well as they have been its hard to see Kyrie or Love being moved. So what say you? Is there a guy out there that you want? Is he available? Am I high right now? Well I can answer that one for you and the answer is yes.. with they being said here's my proposal...
Orlando in B.Griffin S.Adams
Out Vucevic + Gordon + 11th pick + Laker pick
OKC In Vucevic + Redick + ORl 2016 11th pick
Out S.Adams + E.Kanter + C.Payne
LAC in C.Payne + A.Gordon + E.Kanter + LAL 2018 pick via ORL + Pick swap opt with ORl 2018 NBA Draft
Our roster
Elfird/CJ/rookie
Oladipo/Fournier/Marble
Barnes/Hezonja/Marble
Griffin/Illyasova/rookie

awesome roster if it were early 80s. No shooting in your starting line-up, teams will sag to the paint like 85 year old titties.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.
"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

Re: When you wish upon a star...
No thank you to signing Harrison Barnes, I want the Magic to have no part in over paying him. I'm against going after Blake Griffin if it involves trading Gordon, to me Gordon is an untouchable and he'll be our starting PF most likely (unless something happens to Fournier and Gordon is slotted at the 3) and he's still so freaking young, it's scary how good Gordon can be.
I like the idea of getting Adams but he's not someone id replace Vuc with. Honestly only two names pop out to me as Vuc replacements would be Whiteside or Dwight, if we could sign either of those in FA, that gives us the ability to move Vucevic in the future in a package deal, for somebody like let's say, Paul George.
How sick would a lineup of this be?
Payton
Oladipo
George
Gordon
Whiteside or Howard
I'm all for trying to get Conley in this FA as well, slot him in for Payton at PG and the team improves even more.

Whiteside is getting the Max from some team and most likely Miami. Thus, if you question paying him Max money, then there is zero chance he would come to Orlando.

if that was directed at me, i know he will probably get a max deal. I still think that is overpaying for him, for his actual play. He can put up block numbers, but at the detriment of team defense. and I also think that no matter what he said publicly, he will go to the highest bidder.

Still, he is a dominate force in the game defensively and an athletic freak. I don't think he is worth the Max but there will be players much lower than him getting max deals as well when we have up to 28 teams having Max money to throw around.

I believe Whiteside fills a need for us far more than Barnes, and can be had without having to trade assets. Dwight can fill the same need from FA without having to trade assets. That's why I think both of them are really valuable to us specifically.
Vucevic is great, he's a great center, I am just not sure how he fits on our team long term with the way we are built. Vogel could have a great plan for our squad, I don't know. But the circumstances of this FA with guys like Whiteside and Howard being potentially available (while providing a need at the position, elite defense) makes Vucevic expendable. He's on a highly desirable contract and he's a great young center.
The situation reminds me of when we had Gortat and didn't hold on to him long enough for a deal for Chris Paul, that deal that could be identical to Chris Pauls back in the day, is Paul George's potential situation with Indiana. But this time, we *could* have a replacement ready for the center position, and we have Vuc ready to be traded in a larger deal, for Paul George.

Everyone keeps bringing up Whiteside and he's gone on the record of saying he wants to go somewhere he can win. So, why would he come to Orlando considering the Magic haven't cracked the playoffs?

Where he can win, meaning what he envisions... sort of how Vogel envisions us becoming a winner. If he said I wanted to join a team that has won for a while, that's different.
Memphis has been winning but that team might be gutted next y ear. Houston has been winning but it isn't pretty, I think you're smart enough to know what projection is.

If we bring in Whiteside/Horford I'm all for moving Vuc.

Re: When you wish upon a star...
I don't really like the trade either but I was just trying to put my self in Robs shoes. We've been rumored to make an offer for Blake that involved AG and Vuc for Blake. The clips apparently turned it down. We've been linked to Barnes as well so I think there could be some interest on Robs part. That trade was less about what I want as opposed to what I think is pragmatic. To the guy who mentioned that lack of shooting in the SL I completely agree with that sentiment although we would have a wealth of shooting coming off the bench and I might be I the minority but I feel as tho the time will eventually come where we have to break up our backcourt and reshuffle the deck a little. With Mario on the cusp and Evan likely returning I can see Vic being on the outside looking in due to 1. His fit next to EP and 2. The Value he possessed on the trade market. If I was Henny I would strongly consider trading a package of Vic/Mario + Vuc + picks for a Star wing. Now is that player available? Is that even enough to move the needle on a guy like PG or Butler? Who know. Hell I would even be willing to move Vuc/Vic + 11 if it meant bringing in Ingram or Simmons

Yeah Gordon is 20 years old! 20 FREAKING YEARS OLD!! Kids going to be a superstar.
Ive never been a bandwagon supporter but if we traded him that would almost do it for me.

I'm also smart enough to know that no one will respect a GM that has gone through two coaches in four seasons and built four lottery teams in a row. Seriously, what the hell does Hennigan pitch to a free agent? Not paying state income tax for 41 games out of the season? The weather? He can't possibly pitch winning or continuity.

I guarantee that a free agent is worried about two things above all else -- where he envisions himself the next few years on the team he joins and the money he could possibly make there, then all of the other stuff after that. Being a young team with cap space, Frank Vogel as your coach, and talented young players can make Orlando seem like a good destination for free agents. Prime real estate? No, but certainly not a bad place to consider.
Even Vaughn knew he was strictly a early rebuild coach, and I don't think anybody thought he would be around when we start to get serious about things. Skiles quit on his own accord because he realized we weren't going to jettison the rest of our players like Tobias for Ilyasova and Jennings.
And yes, he built four lottery teams in a row. I think the intent to rebuild through the draft means exactly that. Teams like that are not going to win with any young squad. Free agents are going to lose very little sleep over the fact that Skiles or Vaughn isn't on the team anymore. The winning will come -- the continuity has been in the young core, as Vogel alluded to, getting the growing pains out of their system. Now we finally hope Vogel is the continuity in coaching which we need. I have high hopes for him and I think he'll bring exactly what we need in that area.

Yeah and it wasn't like we were that far from the playoffs either. Plus we have the ability to go and get someone to pair with Whiteside. Vogel is a plus as he is a good players coach and has a track record of winning. I wonder how good Whiteside who is already very good defensively can be. Not pinning my hopes on him but I would make him my number one priority and we will just have to wait and see.

Ok our our players may not be able to. But Vogel can. And again as Soul said it is about projecting what you can be not just what you were.
