Evan Fournier
What do you guys think? He's a RFA coming off a good year. Gives the Kings a reliable option in he backcourt. Can play both guard spots and possibly SF depending on matchups. Knockdown 3 pt shooter, can create for himself and others, not great defensively but passable as he's quick, has a high IQ and hustles. Should the Kings offer him a max or near max contract? I think he's a good fit next to Cousins and Gay as a shooter as well as a 2nd/3rd option and playmaker. While he may not be as good defensively as C Lee or Bazemore, he's a superior offensive player and playmaker than either of those guys.

Re: Evan Fournier
If Evan Fournier gets a max..... I like him but nowhere near a max player in my opinion. I'd stay away from the RFA guys as we would have to really overpay to get them and go after Lee or a guy like Parsons who I think would be a really good fit here if we were to trade Gay. He's got some injury problems but I think he's in the wrong role in Dallas and would be a lot better here.

Heck no to the max. Not a fan in general of them going after him either.

Re: Evan Fournier
Don't really like him either. The guy was gunning for his stats last season to be in play for a big contract in the summer. Very selfish, imo.

That was the biggest knock on him. But still didn't take away from his abilities to put up numbers and do so efficiently. I just don't know if there's enough ball between him, Cuz and Gay but Fournier does have the ability to play off the ball as well.

Re: Evan Fournier
Wouldn't mind signing Fournier but not for anything near max money. He'd be a secondary target after trying to sign more ideal players like Bazemore, Batum and Marvin Williams.

I'd rather go after Eric Gordon or C Lee for much less. Both would be a better fit and contract.

Re: Evan Fournier
He's better than Ben McLemore, so we have to consider him. The team would improve if we signed him, but is it the best move we could make? I don't know.

The positional issue would remain IMO. We have two SFs now in Gay/Casspi, need help at the two (if Curry isn't deemed full time there)

I don't believe he was suggesting we actually max Barnes, just pointing out that giving Fournier a max is a realy, really bad idea.

I agree with that, but I also think there is a emphasis on the SG position. Gay has been mentioned by Joerger, and I'm personally willing to see him under another coach than Karl. Even if Gay is moved though Casspi is a solid player who can potentially start himself and fills a lot of holes as a great shooter and a statistically plus defender

Ok. The topic here though is offering Fournier a max. You agree with that?

No. I think there will be better options

Re: Evan Fournier
You guys might not know but as a teenager/kid he was a fan of the Kings (when he was in France, he talked about ideally being drafted by Sacramento), and his favourite player is Mike Bibby js.
As much as I like Evan, signing him to the max would be a joke but he's definitely going to be paid a big load of money no matter what team. He always has had characters and balls with his qualities, at least he's not a passenger.

It's funny how you can forget how fun and influential those Kings teams were back then. I remember Rubio saying something similar, I think his favorite player was JWill and he wouldn't have gone back to Spain that year if we took him. I could be wrong, but I think I remember something along those lines.

Yeah I totally remember that, actually when Rubio came to visit Sacramento he was totally into it and definitely was going straight to the NBA the Kings had chosen him. And yeah Jason Williams is his favourite NBA player.
They are younger than me but it doesn't surprise me, a lot of us who were real NBA fans in the start of 2000's as main influence were basically all into (as far as teams not individual players) Kings and Mavs as they were definitely the funniest teams to watch (in France before TP made an impact to the Spurs).
