The tenor of this seems to be that Colangelo wants a new coach, not Brett Brown. Is this a correct assertion?

Re: The Tom Moore Thread
Although it is just an opinion, I thought that Foster was a better coach than Rooks in general and seemed far more well thought of and effective around the league, but the issue with not having enough guys who played in the league doesn't make sense when it comes to Rooks since he played 12 years in the league. I'm not a big Rooks fan, but the reason to not renew him is because he didn't do a great job, the NBA experience angle makes no sense with him.

I think that it is pretty clear that BC DOES want Brown to be the coach.
Everything he has said has pointed that way, but just as telling is that they had Brett sit at the lottery. It would take a complete sociopath to change coaches after letting him represent the team at the draft.
I think he is safe next year unless he starts out 0-20 again with a healthy team.

Did you click the link? It is all about Sean Rooks, and whether he will return as an assistant coach:
President of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo is believed to want coaches — and some players — with more NBA experience than the Sixers had while compiling a 47-199 record over the past three seasons.

I didn't click the link, but now I have.
I thought you were saying that BC wanted to replace Brett, and that is why I posted what I did.

Yeah, I don't mean to sound the alarms of panic, but a GM undermining his coach in the process of selecting assistant coaches is kinda the telltale sign of a dysfunctional franchise.
Which is why I'm concerned if this isn't a move Brett Brown is spearheading, but rather Colangelo based.

I don't know what the normal course of action is with regard to GM's, head coaches, and Assistant coaches. I just assume that it is a collaborative process between the two.

Coaches usually pick their staff, which isn't to say that some discussions don't occur about them. When they lose their gm's faith and the GM's don't want to fully bite the bullet, the GM's fire the assistant coaches handpicked by the coaches and pretend it isn't passive aggressive -- Sac and Phx did it this past season, Sac with just 1 coach, and Phx with all the assistants before the head coach later got canned midseason.
If Brett isn't pushing to replace Rooks, then this is a horrible sign. If Brett is, then the guys contract is over and this should be a done deal with Brett having told him he is moving on. Brett isn't really a guy to not be straight with someone by all reports. Which loops me back to, this smells of a heavy handed GM and thats trouble.
Hopefully Tom Moore can shed more light?

Re: The Tom Moore Thread
I think some of you all reading too much into this and are looking for reasons to criticize BC. The article says BB is evaluating Rooks performance and that BC desires coaches with NBA coaching experience. Sounds like collaboration to me. BB doesn't seem like a guy who'd tolerate a GM meddling in his affairs. I think the development of our players had mixed results last year. No surprise or major story to me.

Re: The Tom Moore Thread
Tom, when has it ever worked out well for the sixers when they traded a big guy with a lot of talent for a number of lesser players? I'm not crazy about the idea, but if the sixers need to "balance" the line-up then trading a potential all star franchise player for another (Ingram?) is understandable. otherwise, if we're being optimistic about Embiid, Noel, who can only play center, is redundant and his contract is coming up soon.
